5.0 out of 5 stars Chacos are superb. The Z2 has superior control for hiking., August 15, 2007
This review is from: Chaco Men's Z2 Sandal (Apparel)
I'm a rave for the Chaco Z1 - the king of comfort. If you're trying to really get somewhere you'll appreciate the control the extra toe loop the Z2 gives you. The Z1's open toe are is lovely and non-restricting for lounging around and casual strolls, but can slip around a bit when climbing or torquing.

Either way - Chacos are the best: After years with Tevas I have Chacos a try. I'm a true believer. Chacos rule for 3 reasons:

1) Amazing sculpted footbed. Chacos have real arch and heel support - probably the best of any shoe I own.

2) Awesome Vibram soles. The soles are tough as nails and truly trail grade - like a pair of top notch hiking boots. There are lots of sole options on Chacos - and all are excellent.

3) Superb strap arrangements. The lightweight easy to clean Chaco strap design is quick and easy to fit, superbly comfortable, and is the easiest to get into and out of of any sandal. There's no hardware (like Teva's plastic join rings). There is only one single cinch to tighten or loosen getting in and out. You initially adjust fit by pulling the straps tighter or looser through the rubber footbed. It's easy and once your done the straps stay put.

The whole thing is so lightweight and non-intrusive on your feet - almost like being barefoot - except for the amazing lug soles and superb supporting footbed. Highest recommendation.

Caveats? The aggressive diamond pattern on the footbed gives great grip - but it can hurt tenderfeet when the shoe is new (it wears down to comfort after a week or two). If it's hurts you too much you can sand it down a little. Also, the deeply sculpted foodbed design is not for folks EE or wider. I have E width and just barely work. Normal width is only width offered. I wear a 14 and am delighted they make up to size 14.

I have not stopped wearing them. I walk a lot from my university to my house and they have been an excellent buy. I cannot wait to try them on a nice hike!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best all around sandal, August 29, 2006
By
I've tried lots of sandals in my day, but I have to say that overall, Chaco makes the best. Although the toe-loop takes some getting used to, it helps provide great support for the forefoot. The single strap is easy to adjust, providing comfort for the entire foot.

Also, you gotta love the vegetarian construction...good to see that Chaco has certified vegetarians building their shoes.

purchasing Chacos for anyone...these were for my son and he wears them everywhere. I have a pair myself and love, love, love them. My foster puppy chewed one and I was able to trim up with scissors...will definitely have them re-strung at some point or purchase a brand new pair; one for shleping in the yard and one for everything else!

I wanted to purchase a pair of sandals that could simply be worn into "rough" conditions. I must admit I am delighted by this product. Soles are sturdy as well as well designed straps.
I tried to "break it" prior to my trip to Chile, but there is no need to it. It's comfortable from the first try. As one will go along with this pair, it's almost irisistable to not take out those pair from your feet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Worth It, May 21, 2008
This review is from: Chaco Men's Z2 Sandal (Apparel)
These Chaco's are a bit pricey when trying to buy sandals but they are worth it. They are comfortable and classy but they are also tough enough to go hiking in! I am curious just how long they will last?

These shoes are awesome. I wear them everywhere. I can't wait to go do some canoeing in them. If you need some sandals get these. The heal strap is a must.
