5.0 out of 5 stars Never let me down!
I love my Chacos. I just bought my 2nd pair off amazon.

They fit great, feel great and ARE great.

I highly recommend them to anyone whether you are a hiker or camper and whatever. I've even used them to climb in the Ozarks. I love them.

They've never let me down.

My last pair I had for 6 years before the sole started to come...

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality
The sole separated from the footbed in less than two months. That definitely shouldn't happen with a $95 pair of sandals. The first time this happened, we assumed it was an abberation, but now it has happened twice.

If you decide to order these, go ahead and order some Shoe Goo Footwear Adhesive at the same time.

My last pair I had for 6 years before the sole started to come apart. You know, when your sole by your toes starts to peal back and you get a little "tongue" for your shoes. 6 YEARS before that happen. And during those 6 years I climbed, hiked, wore them to the beach, in the water mind you, wore them to water parks and to school. Great for walking around campus not to mention they're easy to put on and take off. I wore them on numerous mission trips and all over the world. Chacos can tackle any project. I plan on bringing them with me when I go to Israel and India.

I'd put more than 5 stars if I could.

Buy them, don't hesitate. Unless of course you're a bit short on cash, then wait. They'll still be here beckoning your name.

Casey

4.0 out of 5 stars Toe loop is a little uncomfortable, February 16, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Needed to replace my 10 year old chaco's and saw these on Amazon. Overall they are very comfortable, but I don't like the toe loop. I realize this probably provides a better grip and more control, but just feels weird to me. As with all Chaco sandals, great construction and I'm sure they will be as durable as my last pair!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love my Chacos, October 15, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Well, I was looking for good all around footwear after slipping out of cycling shoes. And I have to say getting the Z2 Chacos fit the bill and then some. These are super-comfy for everyday wear and I've even gone on a couple intense hikes in them. Definitely a favorite footwear choice for me.

Great product. The design of the sandal allows you to adjust the straps from several different areas resulting in a perfect fit. The soles are thick and great for hiking or any other activity. It is also a good looking sandal. I plan to get another pair in blue!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great shoe, very comfortable!, August 19, 2009

I ordered these shoes for my son who wanted them for church camp where he was going to be a counselor this summer. we had looked all over town and could not find a pair in his size. We were able to order these in right size and great price. He loves them and says they are the most comfortable shoe he has ever owned. He normally has a problem with his arches bothering him and in these...no problem. He is also excited because he now has a "Chaco tan"

This is a first rate product. These are probably the only sandals that I have ever had that I 100% prefer over my shoes. I can not say enough good things about them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great sandals but I'm going for Chaco Z1's next time, June 13, 2011

Pros:

These are AMAZING sandals! I got mine in 2006 for a trip to India that would include a bit of time in a rain forest. They fit well, get great traction, are easily washed, and dry quickly. If they ever stink I learned that spraying RainX on them clears that right up. They've taken me through hiking in India, Arizona, many trips to the beach, hiking back home in Ohio, tennis, and ultimate Frisbee. I actually schedule some hikes during rain-showers now just to get a better view of the forest. The sandals give me good traction through the rain and are easily rinsed afterward.

Cons:

1. Even if I try to keep it loose the toe loop messes up my circulation. It feels fine while I wear it, but if I've used the toe loop during the day my big toe swells up when I go to bed. I pulled the slack out of the toe loop and don't use it anymore. Problem resolved. (Slightly less control without the toe loop. I stopped using Chacos for tennis since I'm not using the toe loop anymore.)

Sadly I lost my right sandal today (6/13/2011) after 5 years of fun. My kayak tipped, I wasn't wearing the sandals, and it floated under a log jam before I could get to it.

Same day... I've ordered another pair. Z1's this time so there's no toe loop!

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic sandal, October 15, 2010
Assuming you're okay with the style of these sandals, they are an amazing purchase. I got mine about two months ago and absolutely love them. The product page for mine was for the Z/2 but showed pictures of the Z/1 for many of the color options. I ended up picking trail blue because I was sure I wanted the additional toe support of the Z/2. I don't know if the other color options would have actually been Z/1 without the toe loop or if the picture was simply incorrect. Just be aware of this if the toe loop is important to you.

That being said, I find that the toe loop tightens up and "chokes" my big toe as I walk. So lately I have been wearing the sandal without putting my big toe through the loop. There is no discernible difference in comfort or fit, and my feet feel plenty stable without the toe support. I imagine when I go on rugged trails I would use the toe loop more, but it's not necessary for casual or in-town walking and, for me, causes discomfort.

The sole on these things is indestructible, even if you're skidding around on concrete all day. Absolutely bombproof, I love these things.

4.0 out of 5 stars best sandals I've ever owned, January 19, 2012
When I moved out west from Brooklyn a couple of years ago I didn't think I'd ever join the granola-eating, hemp wearing scene that is somewhat overt in my small town and for the most part I've resisted. These shoes are pretty much the one exception I make though.

The straps are infinitely adjustable for a super custom comfortable fit. It's a really unique design, almost like a pulley system that runs through the interior of the sole so it takes a bit of doing to get everything situated perfectly but once you get everything in place the straps really stay put. I have especially large feet *and* arthritis so it can be hard for me to get a really good, secure fit with sandals; these will always fit perfectly because you can re-adjust at will.

The Vibram sole is virtually indestructible and is replaceable for a small fee through the Chacos. The straps are also replaceable for a fee. I've had one pair for five years and bought a second pair last year locally. The pair I've had for five years still has ample tread on the bottom and didn't wear down like the Crocs I've had. The second pair was bought at a steep discount because one sole had a one inch or so area where the sole had split; it was easy to repair with a touch of glue and saved me about seventy percent off the price of the shoes. They have worn just fine though.

Of note:

They never get smelly.

Technically wearable in water, but as mine are very large, creates a bit of resistance and feels like you're sucked onto the riverbed at times. Water does affect the fit of the straps though and requires too much re-adjustment for me to attempt that again.

If you have "tender feet" as in very used to soft sneakers, these soles are made of what feels like hard rubber; for me, it took about full two weeks to get used to them and then they felt completely natural. I also have entirely flat feet and the slight arch was also part of what my structure had to get used to.

Very pleased with this purchase and highly recommended.
