BUY THE Z/2 instead!!!,
This review is from: Chaco Women's ZX/2 UWP Sandal (Apparel)
I bought the ZX/2 after owning and LOVING my Z/2's now for 2 years. Unfortunately, it's been a huge mistake. The adjustable tightening system with the straps never stays put. I can't wear these for more than 5 minutes without having to sit down and adjust them so they aren't strangling my toe. I am, however, a huge fan of the toe strap (my Z/2's have the toe strap and it's great for stability). It allows me to run, climb, jump, etc. and I feel great support. With my Z/2's, I rarely EVER have to adjust the straps to due to the toe strap becoming too tight. I've worn my ZX/2's for weeks now and although I hoped the problem would go away, it hasn't. I did some research (wish I would've done this BEFORE buying!!! silly me!) and I discovered similar complaints from other customers with this exact issue. Do yourself a favor and stick to the Z/2's. I liked the double strap look and thought it would be nicer looking than the Z/2 but the discomfort isn't worth it. I'm off to buy a new pair of Z/2's!

I HAVE WORN MY ZX/2 UNAWEEP SANDALS BY CHACO AT LEAST 4 TIMES A WEEK FOR A MONTH AND LOVE THEM. THEY ARE MY THIRD PAIR AND MOST CERTAINLY MY FAVORITES. THEY ARE TRUE TO FIT AND WORK WITH EVERYTHING I WEAR. A MUST FOR ANYONE WHO IS ACTIVE.

Great sandal. Takes time to fit right, though.,
This review is from: Chaco Women's ZX/2 UWP Sandal (Apparel)
I have had these sandals for a few weeks now, and I was nervous because of some of the comments I read on here. When I first got them, they were a bit uncomfortable because the straps were not right and the arches hurt my feet (I have low arches). After a few days of wearing them, though, I figured out how the straps felt best. When the straps were right, the arches didn't hurt, either. After the period of a couple days to get them worn in, the shoes are GREAT! They are comfortable, stylish, and the straps stay put (despite what some reviews say.) I am very satisfied with my purchase, and I'm sure you will be, too.

Toe Strangler,

I have extremely narrow feet, and thought that the completely adjustable strap would be an awesome way to get a perfect fit. However, I can't seem to get the straps to adjust properly. For example, when I put them on, they are adjusted perfectly. After I walk around a while, the straps become tighter and tigher and tighter. I can't even walk the dog for a few blocks in these without having to continuously stop and readjust the straps. I have never worn chacos before, but I am willing to bet that a different style of this shoe might work out better. The two straps, although attractive, just aren't working for me. I gave the shoes two stars, because I think the arch support and foot bed are very comfortable. If only my toes didn't turn purple.... I'm going to start cruising clearance and bargain bins for a new style, and donate these to Goodwill.

Cute, but toe strap STRANGLES your big toe!!,

This review is from: Chaco Women's ZX/2 UWP Sandal (Apparel)
I have the same complaint with these many other people do: the toe strap just continuously clamps down on my big toe, so tight I feel like my toe is losing circulation! I previously owned the original, single strap, non-toe strapped, Z-1. I loved those, so decided to buy the ZX2 for their "cute" factor. Big mistake, should have stuck with my original or bought the single strap zx1. I have to stop and adjust these sandals every 20 minutes, all day, any time I wear them.

Best shoes ever!,

These are, by far, the best shoes I've ever owned! I have wide, flat feet, so finding sandals with good support can be difficult. These Chacos are a winner! They are wide enough, and the foot bed provides excellent support. I bought them three weeks ago, and I've had a hard time wearing anything else because none of my other shoes measure up!
I had to buy a size smaller than my usual size because my regular size was too long. The adjustable straps are helpful because they allow for a tight or loose fit, depending on my needs on a particular day. A salesperson at a Chaco retailer told me that these shoes can be washed in the washing machine when they get dirty. I haven't tried it yet, but based on their quality, I'm sure they'll hold up fine. They are TOTALLY worth the money!

Horrible Toe Strangling Sandals!,
By carpetauntie "carpetauntie" (Phnom Penh, Cambodia) - See all my reviews

These shoes seemed so great, but turned out to be $100 down the drain. There is not enough toe room and I found myself constantly trying to wrestle that strap looser. The strap runs continuously through the whole shoe, and walking and slipping shoes on/off slowly but surely loosens the strap at the ankles while progressively strangling the toes. On days when I needed to be on my feet a lot, I would find myself sitting down on street corners yanking off my shoes and trying to loosen up the toes - not easily done - and then finding myself in the same painful situation an hour or two later. My feet also swell a bit in hot weather, and on true sandal days I was sometimes unable to get my toe into it at all. The strap problem also caused blisters. The shoes are also quite heavy, and because so much strap pressure would be on the toes, even if I had just loosened them it was like the weight of the whole shoes was hanging from my big toe rather than ankle. I am having a hard time imagining a worse shoe design.

Great sandal, but strangles toes!,

I have worn these sandals for about 2 years now. I do love them, they are rugged, versatile, and super comfortable with great arch support.
However, I have one major complaint: they strangle my big toes! As I'm walking the top of my feet must put pressure on the straps, causing the toe loop to tighten. This can get very uncomfortable. As a result I usually have to loosen the toe loop every time I put them on, and then leave the ankle strap loose. This is fine for my daily wear, but after awhile of wearing them loose I sometimes get blisters from the straps rubbing. If I were to keep the ankle strap snug so they fit how they are supposed to, I'd have to stop every half hour or so to take them off and loosen the toe loop. Not cool. And its not just me- I've talked to at least two other women who experience the toe-strangling as well. I continue to wear mine fairly often, because in general I love them. But I would highly recommend buying them in a style without the toe loop, like the Z1.

Chacos are amazing! They are well worth the money. I love this pattern and style. I wore them to Bonnaroo (a music festival) and all summer. I will be sad to finally put them away for fall.
