Product Description

An exciting variation on the classic features that make Chaco an industry leader in sport sandal design and comfort, the Chaco ZX/2 women's sandal swaps out the classic single strap assembly for the fit advantages of a dual strap model. The parallel, infinitely adjustable, narrow straps adjust independently of one another so if a strap runs over the top of a contour unique to your foot, an adjustment can be made to alleviate any pressure. Underfoot the Chaco ZX/2 sandals hike like air-conditioned hiking boots, thanks to the Vibram Unaweep outsole and BioCentric footbed contour. The Vibram sole offers all-terrain traction in and out of the water while the BioCentric footbed supports the foot in a neutral position for a healthy stride. The split toe design also contributes to the hiking boot comparison, adding an extra element of forefoot control in addition to the standard strap that crosses over the top of the forefoot. The Chaco ZX/2 sandal's polyester webbing feels soft against the skin and the toe loop does not pull straight back like a typical thong. Furthermore, this material dries faster than nylon and maintains a consistent fit if your adventures find you repeatedly going in and out of the water.

These sandals take some time, effort, patience, sand/dirt/mud & "wash-n-wear" to be able to fully enjoy them. But, trust me, once you do, they are worth it! First, the straps do take some time to get "just right", some "trial-n-error" (see inside box top or YouTube Chaco-Adjustment Instruction Videos). But once you get the adjustment that fits comfortably for you (being able to easily slip 1 finger under the straps when they are on, without any tightness, is ideal), Second, then put them in the washing machine (cold water wash & rinse)and leave out to air dry. This washes off the waxy coating that the straps have on them that enables them to slip-n-slide more easily while getting them adjusted just right. Once you have done that, the straps should stay put & the toe-strangling issue should be less (if at all) of a problem. If this doesn't do the trick (or for more assurance of anti-slippage), adjust again to a comfortable fit, then wear them in the sand, get them dirty/muddy (repeatedly... because the more you do this, the less they will slip) and rinse off, or wash again. It's all a part of the "customization process".
These tactics worked for all of my Chaco sandals, Z/1's, Z/2's and ZX/2's.

This is a process worth going through because of how comfortable they are, especially when you are done going thru it, and because once you do it, you never have to go through it again! ...you, and they, are good-to-go!!

For many of us, this is what's known as "the breaking in" period.
Hope this little diddy helps all of those out there enduring the "Chaco Challange".

I bought the ZX/2 after owning and LOVING my Z/2's now for 2 years. Unfortunately, it's been a huge mistake. The adjustable tightening system with the straps never stays put. I can't wear these for more than 5 minutes without having to sit down and adjust them so they aren't strangling my toe. I am, however, a huge fan of the toe strap (my Z/2's have the toe strap and it's great for stability). It allows me to run, climb, jump, etc. and I feel great support. With my Z/2's, I rarely EVER have to adjust the straps to due to the toe strap becoming too tight. I've worn my ZX/2's for weeks now and although I hoped the problem would go away, it hasn't. I did some research (wish I would've done this BEFORE buying!!! silly me!) and I discovered similar complaints from other customers with this exact issue. Do yourself a favor and stick to the Z/2's. I liked the double strap look and thought it would be nicer looking than the Z/2 but the discomfort isn't worth it. I'm off to buy a new pair of Z/2's!

Excellent shoe! My foot has to get used to the texture on the bottom of the shoe and I've been trying to figure out how to adjust the straps to be the most comfortable. After a little wearing in though, I can see them being the most comfortable shoe. Excellent arch support!

I bought these for my month long trip in Nicaragua. It was rainy season and we did a lot of hiking. These shoes were absolutely perfect for the terrain. Not only did I feel confident in traveling over any terrain, but I was comfortable. We did an 8 hour hike on a volcano, but it was like we were trekking through the rain forest. It was very wet, muddy, and we had to climb over/under trees. I did better in my Chacos than people who wore heavy-duty hiking boots/tennis shoes. Now that I am back in the states, I don't go hiking as much as I would like, but I wear these everywhere and absolutely love them. Please buy a pair. You won't regret it.

They're comfortable, they stay put enough to hike in them (you might get some dirt under your foot but come on, it's a sandal, there's no avoiding that!) and they look good, not as clunky as most sport sandals. They cover the bases that you'd otherwise need several pairs of shoes for, so the price is worth it!

I HAVE WORN MY ZX/2 UNAWEEP SANDALS BY CHACO AT LEAST 4 TIMES A WEEK FOR A MONTH AND LOVE THEM. THEY ARE MY THIRD PAIR AND MOST CERTAINLY MY FAVORITES. THEY ARE TRUE TO FIT AND WORK WITH EVERYTHING I WEAR. A MUST FOR ANYONE WHO IS ACTIVE.

These sandals are very comfortable. They run true to size. I ordered a size 9, thinking they ran small, but I had to return them and order my regular size 8. It is a little hard to get used to the strapping, but once you get the hang of it, they wear as expected. The construction is very good, and the color is great. I'm sure I will get lots of good wear out of them. I would recommend them.
