Seventeen of the very best of the Chad Mitchell Trio Songs,
By A Customer
This review is from: Chad Mitchell Trio Collection: Original Kapp Recordings (Audio CD)
Every one of the seventeen tracks is a jewel, reflecting a different facet of the trio. The signature irreverence of the trio is reflected in "The John Birch Society," and more idealistic times reflected in "Last Night I had The Strangest Dream." Those of us of a certain age remember Hootenanies and Happenings where we did our best to emulate the trio singing "The Gypsy Rover" and "The Golden Vanity." All the magic of the Chad Mitchell Trio is here. This is a must for your nostalgia collection.

This is a great collection of the early Chad Mitchell Trio. The only question I have about the collection is the exclusion of Lizzie Borden. Along with The John Birch Society (which is included), I considered Lizzie Borden to be one of the Trio's signature tunes, and it should have been included.

Folk's Finest,

No one touches The Chad Mitchell Trio. Finest harmonies, musicianship, musicians, songs, content, you name it. These fellows give you the best kind of goosebumps. I can't begin to give them their due. And Chad's soaring harmonies are to die for. Just glorious ... and tasteful!

What You Need To Know,
By
This review is from: The Chad Mitchell Trio Collection (Audio CD)
The Chad Mitchell Trio was one of the top singing attractions on the campus and club folk circuit in the '60s, rivaling established competitors such as The Kingston Trio and Peter, Paul and Mary. They made a lasting contribution to the folk movement, mixing political satire with sophisticated vocal harmony while simultaneously broadening the audience for both.
* This collection features some of the best recordings ever made by the trio and includes Bob Dylan's "Blowin' In The Wind" (recorded before Peter, Paul & Mary), "Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream," and "The John Birch Society," which featured Fred Hellerman of The Weavers on guitar. * The release also features folk-rock legend Jim (Roger) McGuinn on banjo and guitar, before he started The Byrds.

Though the topics are dated, the songs are timeless. A very good technical quality disk. Not bad for such old material. Great banjo licks.

Historically Significant Folk Talent from the 60's,

This review is from: Chad Mitchell Trio Collection: Original Kapp Recordings (Audio CD)
This collection of Chad Mitchell Trio songs may be a little dated when they sing of things that happened 40 years ago, but the talent and humor come through loud and clear. While the era may have been identified with more famous groups like The Kingston Trio or The Limeliters, one cannot truly appreciate the folk & protest music of the 1960's without giving the Chad Mitchell Trio a good listen. I promise you'll play it again and again and still want more.

I am back in the 60's again. I can close my eye's and see them singing on stage. There aren't words enough to describe how really good they are.
