5.0 out of 5 stars I Took a Chance, November 2, 2008
This review is from: Chain Reaction / The X-Files: Fight the Future / Independence Day (DVD)
The X-Files movie Fight the Future is the only X-Files movie or TV series that is out of print on DVD. There will be a Blu-Ray Edition coming in December 2008 but for DVD fans who have just been catching up on the series they've been out of luck looking for a new copy. At least not from someone besides a third party vendor on Amazon or an eBay scalper at outrageous prices.

I lucked out finding this Movie three pack which contains Fight the Future along with Chain Reaction and Independence Day. The product description at Amazon lists that all three movies are in full-screen but they are actually all in widescreen (which is better). All three movies are packaged individually inside the box set with their own shrink-wrap including the otherwise out of print The X-Files. A LOT of multi-movie DVD packs either put all of the discs in one set or the individual movies in cheap-o slim-pack cases. The films in this set come in their own regular DVD packages which is what I was looking for.

This is the ONLY way to purchase Fight the Future new without going through a lot of hassle. The price is cheap too considering you also get two other movies.

The X-Files Movie box says the movie is in "Enhanced Widescreen" and it is. The product is exactly as described on the box but it doesn't come with the 8-page booklet which was packed into the original release. I'm fine with that since I was looking all over for a new copy of the movie for months until I found this.

Fun fact: The X-Files movie takes a rather vulgar dig at Independence Day (one of the other packed movies) in the scene where Mulder meets Martin Landau's character for the first time. I find it humorous that this is one of the movies the DVD comes with.
