Old school sound without sounding old.,

This review is from: Chained to the Nite (Audio CD)
I first heard about these guys on a music blog on the web that said the c.d. was pretty good. I listened to the audio samples here on Amazon and decided to buy it. It was well worth the money I spent, plus I got the 2 extra songs from c.d. #2. I have been listening to this c.d. for about 6 or 7 months and I have yet to get tired of it. I know some reviewers on Amazon and other sites have said it doesn't sound like Dokken or Queensryche. I never expected it to. I hear bits of influence from many bands when I listen to this. Cauldron doesn't sound exactly like anybody else which is why I like them. If I wanted a carbon copy of Dokken or Queensryche I would have bought them instead.

I graduated HS in 1986 and the '80's metal was my music. It was great to find this band who has brought back that long forgotten sound and style. Cauldron has two CD's out, and Chained to the Nite is their first. I highly recommend buying both CD's from this band if you like the same metal as I do. You won't be sorry!

Another great band paying homage to the classic metal that we all know and love.
Nothing technical, nothing flashy, just straight-ahead, mid-tempo, head-banging metal. I love the guitar sound on this album, slightly buzzy/chainsawy - Randy Rhoads rhythm sound comes to mind. For fans of Wolf.
