Book Description

From the New York Times bestselling author of Storm of Shadows , Christina Dodd brings you the Fourth in her thrilling series, the Chosen Ones ...
Samuel Faa, the adopted son of servants, is a gypsy lawyer with the power to control minds. Isabelle Mason of the Boston Masons is wealthy, privileged, refined, and has the gift for healing. Two of the Chosen Ones, they hide a past filled with love and betrayal, and a future denied by fate--until the day they're trapped underground. No way out. No way to deny the passion that still burns beneath the surface. And when danger threatens, Isabelle has only one choice: to place her trust in the power of the one man she could never forgive, or forget...

Customers who like books by Christine Feehan and J. R. Ward will enjoy this story.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

An excerpt of Christina Dodd's newest and most wildly romantic paranormal, CHAINS OF FIRE:
Samuel stepped out from behind a potted plant dressed in his heavy coat ... with an amber wool scarf wrapped around his head and tied like a turban. Over the turban, he wore a dark knit cap.
She didn't laugh. Not quite. "That's quite a fashion statement."
"I'm a fashion maven." He stuffed gloves on her hands.
Samuel had never gotten over his impression that she was still a pampered little girl in need of help.
"The scarf is quite attractive on you." She fought back a smirk. "The color compliments your eyes."
"It stopped the blood from leaking out of my ears, too."
She looked. Saw the crimson stains. Realized he had a bruise forming on his jaw.
He'd been fighting again. He'd been trying to get himself killed again.
She had to physically restrain herself from reaching out to him, touching him, healing him. He was Chosen; unless he desperately needed help, he would heal quickly on his own. In repressive tones, she asked, "What did you do now?"
"I got the information we need." He held out an ankle length mink coat for her to slip into.
    "That's not mine."
"Close enough." He shook the coat. "Come on, a child's life is at stake. We haven't got time to waste and it's windy and frigid out there. Like someone else I know."
"I'm not frigid" -- she slid into the heavy fur -- "for the right man."
"I know." Samuel held out a knit cap. "Because I am the right man."

5.0 out of 5 stars HAWT! Chains of Fire! Loved it! October 26, 2010
By Deb
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have been waiting for this book since I finished the 3rd in Christina Dodd's The Chosen series. Book 4, Chains of Fire, did not disappoint. This book picks up smoothly from Chains of Ice. I love the way Christina Dodd just weaves all the magic together in a fabulous story.

Chains of Fire is the story of Samuel Faa and Isabelle Mason. If you've been reading the series then you know that Samuel is the snarky attorney, the reluctant member of the Chosen. Isabelle Mason is the socialite. They've known each other since childhood where they were each adopted in the same household; Isabelle by the matron of the house, Samuel by the butler.

Dodd is ever the master story teller and Chains of Fire leaves you hanging for more, more, more. I read this book in 2 days. I could not put it down. Between rescuing a kidnapped child, being trapped under an avalanche, and meeting with the physical embodiment of Satan, Samuel and Isabelle finally figure out how to truly love one another. And through their sacrifice for each other, their powers have grown.

Now I'm waiting for book 5 in the series. I can't wait! This book goes straight to the top of my Books in the Pile.Chains of Fire: The Chosen Ones

and the Chosen Ones are no exception. I would suggest that you read her prior series, Darkness Chosen, before starting this series. There are a few characters in this series that were main characters in the Darkness Chosen series. However, it is not absolutely necessary to do so, since this series can stand alone.

In 2014, Christina is publishing the Lost Hearts series in e-book, all enhanced with extra material:
-- JUST THE WAY YOU ARE
-- ALMOST LIKE BEING IN LOVE
-- CLOSE TO YOU
And Christina's all-new series, Virtue Falls, starts with:
-- THE LISTENER: A Virtue Falls e-Short Story (July 1)
-- VIRTUE FALLS: A Full-Length Suspense (Sept 9)

Readers become writers, and Christina Dodd has always been a reader. She reads everything, but because she loves humor, she likes romance best. A woman wants things like world peace, a clean house, and a deep and meaningful relationship based on mutual understanding and love. A man wants things like a Craftsman router with attachments, undisputed control of the TV remote, and a red Corvette which will miraculously make his bald spot disappear. When Christina's first daughter was born, she told her husband she was going to quit work and write a book. It was a good time to start a new career, because how much trouble could one little infant be?

Ha! It took ten years, two children and three completed manuscripts before her first novel, CANDLE IN THE WINDOW, was published to great acclaim. In the years since, she has enjoyed writing witty, emotional novels for every reader: suspense, historical romances, paranormal romances, romantic suspense. Her stories have been translated into 25 languages, won the prestigious Golden Heart and RITA Awards and been called the year's best by Library Journal. Christina Dodd herself has been a clue in the Los Angeles Times crossword puzzle (11/18/05, # 13 Down: Romance Novelist named Christina.) Publishers Weekly praises her style that 'showcases Dodd's easy, addictive charm and steamy storytelling.' With more than fifteen million of her books in print, her legions of fans always know that when they pick up a Christina Dodd book, they know they've found a story "For the wild at heart!"

Christina Dodd is married to a man with all his hair and no Corvette, but many Craftsman tools.
