1.0 out of 5 stars Completely Useless
This book didn't provide one useful bit of information that I didn't already know. It promised all kinds of techniques, but really all they are is "let's pretend" type games. What a waste!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Must" reading for students of metaphysical spirituality., March 4, 2000
Mary Ellen Flora is a spiritual teacher, healer, and clairvoyant reader who brings her remarkable insights on spirituality, daily meditation, and the Chakras to her introduction to how the chakras affect everything we do. She reveals just what the chakras are and how we can access the information in them to benefit our lives. The text comprising Chakras: Key To Spiritual Opening is clear, concise, and offers techniques to open our chakras, creating the life we truly desire -- and a welcome addition to students of metaphysics and spirituality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally...Chakras Demystified!, January 25, 2006

I found this book to be a wonderful introduction to understanding - and working with - the chakras. After reading many esoteric and conflicting accounts of the chakra system, I found Flora's straight forward style refreshing and the meditation techniques easy to follow. I recommend this book wholeheartedly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Working With Your Chakras Mad Simple, February 10, 2009
By
This is the most recent book I have read by this author. Once again she did not fail to deliver the information clearly and simply. I have tried to read other books on the subject and found them to be complex and more technical in nature than educational and practical. Like most people today, my time is to limited to devote a lot of focused time to the study of the Chakra system, and weed through a lot of text to figure out how to work with my Chakra System.

I have gained not only an understanding of the Chakras, I am now able to really feel my Chakras both individually and as a whole system. I feel the energy moving through and around them, and I can feel when I have a blockage. Using the simple techniques I can clear blockages and restore my energy flows to optimum performance. All of this has quickly lightened my body, and allowed me to create larger energy reserves, which in turn is allowing me to experience my life from a position of more joyful and willing attitude, rather than dragging myself through the day and shutting down in the evening.

For anyone seeking to learn how to restore his or her energy, I recommend this book highly. Additionally, I would recommend reading the Meditation book and the Cosmic Energy book by the same author and use the techniques in your mediation practice. Understand that applying all or some of the techniques is simple and easy to do.

Meditation: Key to Spiritual Awakening
Cosmic Energy: The Creative Power

1.0 out of 5 stars Chakras: How I Learned to Stop Thinking and Love Manipulation, February 2, 2006
By
Nothing here folks...just another vanity press piece of crap from an author unable to find a legitimate publisher. Like all the author's work this book does nothing save find ways of taking your money then luring you into her mind control cult.

Would you like to know about Chakras? I'll tell you what the book says (stop me if you've heard this before--I have a funny feeling you have...)

Chakras are spiritual information centres. There are seven main ones. Each one contains information. They spin. They're like wheels. Chakra comes from Sanskrit meaning "wheel". Chakra 1 relates to survival, 2 relates to emotions and sexuality, 3 to power, 4 to affinity, 5 to communication, 6 to clairvoyance, 7 to knowingness.

That's it. That's all--only my paragraph was more well written than the author's!

1.0 out of 5 stars If Only There Were Zero Stars, March 1, 2006

Listen to Shakti Gawain or read any of her books. She'll provide more real spiritual knowledge and practice than any of Flora's books. I bought this book for the techniques it claimed it had, but soon discovered everything in this book has already been covered--and better--by Gawain.

1.0 out of 5 stars Chakras: Key to Loss of Money, January 4, 2005
If you know absolutely nothing at all about chakras, then I suppose you might get something out of this book. However, according to the author, you already have all the information you need about chakras stored in them, so really all you need to do is just ask them what they do! The author appears to enjoy talking down to people and makes sure she doesn't offend anyone's intelligence by using really short words and sentences. It's like listening to a mother read a fairy tale to a 1st grader...worse, though, because at least a fairy tale is entertaining and doesn't cost the child money it will never get back.

1.0 out of 5 stars I Wonder If the 1st Edition Actually Had Useful Information, January 6, 2005
I bought this author's entire book series and was sorely disappointed. I should have ordered one book for a taste of the poor writing, bad information, and re-packaging of old goods. However, being the simple, trusting soul I am, I bought the hype and paid the price for these ridiculous books! I have no idea why or how there could possibly be a 2nd edition of this book as there's nothing worthwhile here whatsoever. Maybe the 1st edition misspelled "chakra"? Who knows? What I do know is that this author touts each and every one of her books, this one included, as chock full of "techniques" for various spiritual experiences. What she delivers, however, are imaginative daydreams. She repeatedly asks people to sit in chairs and "see" grounding cords going into the earth, or "see" chakras spinning, or "see" energy leaving or entering chakras. This, folks, is what she calls "techniques". And this is also what the "psychic" school the book's bio says she founded "teaches" for upwards of $2000.00. Yes, you read that correctly. These books, I believe, are nothing more than marketing devices designed to hook people into her cult. Please don't waste your money or your time!
