4.0 out of 5 stars Truly Epic Oriental Adventure, March 15, 2011
This review is from: Ronin Challenge (Advanced Dungeons and Dragons/Forgotten Realms/Oriental Adventures Module OA6) (Paperback)
(Some SPOILERS follow) This adventure takes PC's through the uncharted reaches of Kara-Tur, across a thousand miles of mountains and dangerous jungle valleys, pursuing a mysterious pair of fugitives. Since you're probably buying it used, make sure you get the maps - they're huge and very well done.
The adventure starts off with the PC's involved in a huge martial arts tourney, where they make also make a recurring enemy. The emperor recruits the party to discover the fate of a missing general and governor from a southern province. At the palace, the party unwittingly makes another recurring enemy. Then they set off across an uncharted mountain range, where they stumble into one strange valley after another after another, with all the usual old-school Oriental Adventures weirdness, with things like magic chickens, goblin spiders, vampires who need the party's help to regain control of their village, haunted caves, incomprehensible villagers, sublime mountaintop libraries, pitiful pirate spirits, and a video game-like final battle. There are also three useful appendices, and eight pregenerated characters of levels 5-8. It also has a sequel, OA7: Test of the Samurai.
