5.0 out of 5 stars Addictive and incredible
When I happened to find Convergence I got hooked. After Convergence I wasn't sure these books could get any better. They have. I liked how you saw the group becoming more independent. And yet falling more deeply into the nobles trap. The romance is absolutely steaming! But I'm worried about Tamrissa. If anything drastic happened to her I'd stop buying the...

3.0 out of 5 stars What a wait ~ and then... a disappointment...
Having devoured the first two books in this series I was gravely disappointed to find that the third had not yet been written (loving this genre the way I do you'd think I'd learn by now not to begin reading a series until *all* of the books are completed!) - but then found hope to find out that I could order the third book *before* it was published through Amazon. 2.0 out of 5 stars Love the plot; hate the descriptions and the repetition, March 9, 2006
By
This review is from: Challenges: Book Three of The Blending (Mass Market Paperback)
I have a love/hate relationship with her books. I love the storyline; it's such a unique concept that I want to read her books even though her writing style is insulting to an avid reader. She tends to repeat everything - if it happens to one charachter, then it has to happen to all six...separately. She also has a tendency to overexplain everything. She doesn't give her readers credit for their ability to think and put two and two together. She has her characters do something and then she explains to the reader why they did it. I think it's her version of descriptive writing but it's insulting when you're reading 'and she smiled at him in that way that let him know that she was bemused prior to taking her leave of him.' Why couldn't she say 'and with a bemused half-smile, she turned and hurried away'? It's much more active and less prissy and stuffy. I'm amazed that she got past the editors with this writing style. And there's a recurring bathing and tea theme in all of her books. How many times is it interesting to read that her characters are taking yet another bath followed by yet another cup of tea? I was bored with that after the third instance. I'm guessing she's British. If only I didn't think the plot concept was a unique, intersting one....

4.0 out of 5 stars Total cliffhanger!, July 28, 1998
This review is from: Challenges: Book Three of The Blending (Mass Market Paperback)
I absolutly loved this book...until the end. If there is anything that I absolutly hate, it's a book that doesn't end. Now I have to wait until the next comes out. A couple of the other reviews said this, but I'm going to say it again. Don't read this series until all of the books come out, but definately read it. I am completely hooked. I got to the end of book three and had to look again to make sure I was at the end. But I have to say, I will definately be reading the next one if only to find out how the story could possibly end up as it's supposed to: Jovvi and Lorand together, Rion and Naran together, and Vallant and Tamrissa together; plus the five as the Seated Five. Well, I can't wait for the next, so write fast Sharon!

3.0 out of 5 stars What a wait ~ and then... a disappointment..., April 18, 1998

So imagine my excitement when the book arrived last week! Well, I truly wish I could say that that excitement stayed with whilest reading this book. It is, by far, the weakest book yet in this series. Most of the novel reads like a trashy romance novel set in a fantasy environment - like a Harlequin with magic. Yuck! Moreover, although the book is entitled 'Challenges' - the actual challenges portion of the competition doesn't come until near the end of the novel. The resolution here is sketchy and quick at best. I must admit that when I was about halfway thorugh the book I thought I *knew* how the novel would end and I was surprised in that the ending was *not* what I had expected; I think I would have preferred my ending - for at least mine would have had better resolution. I found the most enjoyable element of this book was the characters - with whom I feel close to having now spent three books with them; and for that this is worth reading. I guess the upswing of all of this is now I'm not so anxious for the fourth book (and the *has* to be a fourth with the way this one ended!) as I was for the third. I strongly suggest to anyone who wants to read this book - no matter what ~~ wait for the next one to be published before reading this one - if not, you'll be sorry!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars In all honesty..., December 27, 2003

The first two books in the story were absolutely intising. I am completely engrossed in the characters and I feel as if I have known them my whole life. I find the third book like the eye of a hurricane. I whipped through the first two, and I whipped through the last two, and this one was like a breather. I admit I started to put it down, but wound up reading it again a day later. Even though it is a bit slow, and you get exhausted with the action (or lack there of) It is a must read for the rest of the series, which IS worth it, I assure you.

Sharon has something truly amazaing with her Blending series. Challenges is truly kickin'!! This third book was full of surprises and a lot of excitement. Based on the his actions in the 2nd book, Kambil's speech at the end of this book really shocked me. I can't wait till I have the 4th book in my hands.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good, January 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Challenges: Book Three of The Blending (Mass Market Paperback)
It's a good story although its rather long. In book 2 I actually liked Kambil but not anymore and I was surprised about Delin he didn't sound like the kind of person that was crazy but rather very controlled and smooth. I actually thought it would end at book 3 and now I have to find book 4 & 5, as if finding book 3 wasn't hard enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh Sharon you have done it to us again!, December 2, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Challenges: Book Three of The Blending (Mass Market Paperback)
My husband and I wait with baited breath for the continuation of this story. Like the serial movies of long ago, we are left on the edge of the cliff, dangling. You enrage the reader with the sudden twist at the end, and everyone that I know that has read it is sending mental vibes for you to finish and get the next one on the market. Of all you have written this is some of your best work and we again are vortexed into your world only to be abruptly spit out again. When will that black hole swing by to pick us up for the next trip?

4.0 out of 5 stars Totaly left hanging., November 9, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Challenges: Book Three of The Blending (Mass Market Paperback)
The book is great, captivating and a fantasy feast but the ending was frustrating. I actually went throughuot the entire book all over again looking for the missing part. I new I should have waited for all the books so as not to risk the chance of no end(which Sharon Green has been prone to do) but i could help myself. Now I find myself trying to come up with a good ending of my own which isn't working. So to sum it all up SHARON GREEN please FINISH WRITING THE 4TH PART.
