The divination rituals performed by an initiated Congo priest are collectively known as the Chamalongo. The Divination by means of seashells is called Vititi Nkobo.The divination by means of coconut shells is known as Vititi Nkandian. The author Carlos Montenegro an initiated Congo priest of Carribbean Palo Mayombe and Brazilian Quimbanda describes how to prepare the chamalongos, the divination ritual and how to interpret all the major oddus. The book also includes the rituals and prayers which accompany each of the oddus.

About the Author
The author Carlos Montenegro was born in Los Angeles, California. He is an initated member of the Afro-Brazilian religions of Candomble and Quimbanda. He has also been initated in the mysteries of Afro-Caribbean Santeria and Palo Mayombe religions. He is also the Executive Director for the Los Angeles Afro-Caribbean Multicultural Religious Institute and the Tata for the Montenegro Casa De Eggun and the Babalorixa for the Montenegro Casa De Santo.

MISLEADING!,

First of all, almost all of the even numbered pages in the book are blank. A few have one or two lines of carry over from the previous page, very few. So while the book posts as a 100 pages, you are only getting about 50. For the price of this book, it is a rip. I really think AMAZON should check these things more closely so as not to mislead the buyer into thinking he is getting far more than in reality. Secondly, the content of the book is NOT the true Congo Chamalongo divination. Mr. Montenegro has apparently mixed together Congo, Yoruban, and his own personal interpretations as from a variety of shell divination systems. I could not recommend this book to anyone, as it is very misleading and very incorrect!

There are different ways to read Chamalongos. Those people who have trashed the good work of Montenegro are evidently too small minded to understand this. No matter how you work with chamalongos, use them without pure, natural understanding and get lost in the forest of your twisted arrogance and confusion. Use chamalongos by whatever system works for you with Exu with a simple clean heart and find out what you have to find out. There are many paths. Montenegro has many interesting things to relate. Many thanks for his generosity.
