In The Chamber With Linkin Park,
By "tkheaven" (West New York, New Jersey United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: In the Chamber: The String Quartet Tribute to Linkin Park (Audio CD)
Linkin Parkers now have an opportunity to experience their favorite songs on a whole new level of music. Even those who are hard core fans can appreciate a few of the renditions the String Quartet put together. It took me about two plays to get into the cd being as though it's mainly strings plus I subconsiously expected to hear sort of Linkin Park remix (as 'Reanimation' did for 'Hybrid Theory'). There were a few songs I felt the quartet could have put more bass to give the song a little more edge or less accented notes making it simpler and still a very good listen. The rest of the tracks were great to get into. Overall, the String Quartet did a great job in giving us another version of our Linkin Park. I gave it a 4 for a few tracks that are a MUST: Points Of Authority, Cure For The Itch and Somewhere I Belong. Incredible job, especially Cure For The Itch. (I found myself closing my eyes and bobbing my head to these songs...gotta be a good sign, right?)SIDE NOTE: The cd track listing on the back cover for 8. 9. & 10. is actually 8. 'Can't Stop What I'm Hearing Within (Original Composition)' 9. 'Somewhere I Belong' & 10. 'By Myself' on the CD.

A Journey of Strings,
By Sean Murphy (Barrie, Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: In the Chamber: The String Quartet Tribute to Linkin Park (Audio CD)
Reading through most of the reviews here I must agree with a fellow reviewer who stated how shallow the music audience is today.A lot of people I know only like one type of music, and immediatley bash all others, and I pity you for being so sheletered. This album is wonderful, it takes the feeling of Linkin Park and blends it into c quartet arrangment that is most appealing. From the gentle sweeps of "In The End" to the anger of "One Step Closer" it's all there. "But it's the same" Of course it's not, it's not Linkin Park, if you want it to be the same, go listen to the original song. A tribute album is about APPRECIATING and giving THANKS for a great artist, it's not meant to immitate. "it's just classical crap", It's obviously not, have you ever tried to play a classical instrument? It's not easy and to do it at this level and make it seem effortless. Considering this particular quartet has about 50 other tribute albums, they must be doing someting right. All in all I love this album, it's great to play when you want to listen to linkin park, but only want background music, or when you're company doesn't like LP. My parents, who either don't like a lot of music (Mom) or are true Jazz fans (Dad), both like this album (and the one I have for COldplay), so it fits everywhere. Enjoy! And remember, the most important thing to remember is that YOU are the only one who can judge, listen to it yourself, and if YOU like it, then that's all that amatters.

Great band, great stuff!,

If you thought LP and straight orchestra wouldn't mix, you were wrong. After buying this CD, I have become addicted to these SQTs. Tom Tally's renditions were delightful in every aspect. And for the late x-mas gift shopper, this is a great buy for the LP fan.
