I bought this because the main way people get in and out of my house is through the garage and it can be dark at times. Rather than fumbling with a light switch I thought this would be great. It's easy to set up and plug in since it uses the same wiring as the old one. The annoying part is that this unit uses the same mounting pattern (which is nice since I didn't have to change the screws) but it sits about a half inch higher than the old opener. Now it looks weird next to my second door opener, easy fix but annoying since everything else is plug and play. The automatic light feature works pretty well but I have noticed sometimes it doesn't turn on when I think it should. The other night I was taking out the trash and walked right by it and it didn't go off, but when I walked back past it to go into the house it turned on. I haven't played with the sensitivity yet but it seems it should work more reliably than it has. I think it was worth the investment but also think it could work better.

My orginal motion detection panel crapped out on me both ways so, I ordered this as a replacement. Mine worked for a few months and now the motion detection part is out again (can't see) but still opens garage fine.

I bought this control panel for the motion detector. I already have a working door opener & light switch. This unit works ok, but must be within about 5' of where you want it to sense you coming into the garage to turn on the light. I have 2 walk through doors in my garage & I wanted it to come on with entry from either door. I had to mount it on the wall between the 2 doors. Which is ok. But I wanted to just replace the control at the garage door. not possible in my garage. The motion detector is not a motion detector but a heat sensor that detects your body temp entering the room. It specifies in the directions that it may not work below 32' & above 100'. My garage never reaches either of these temps unless the door is open for an extended time it may approach them. My the garage is in the basement of my house & is heated & cooled.

I am happy anytime that I get to pay half (or less) of retail. The motion detector works well. Installs easy.

Other reviews that I read indicate the plastic cover (the white push button for the opener, which must be removed to install the control panel or to adjust the light sensitivity for the motion sensor) is easy to break. I got mine installed ok, but can see how the cover would be easily broken. The cover seems cheap and difficult to remove and install.

I also found the recessed terminal screws (wires attached to control panel by little terminal screws on the backside of the control panel) to be objectionable. Was there really a need to recess these? It makes it awful difficult to get the wires wrapped onto the screws and then get the screws tightened. I've done my share of electrical/wiring work and these recessed screws seemed to make a very easy job somewhat frustrating.

I have had the control panel installed for a month or two now. It seems to work pretty well. I really like the motion sensor (technically a heat sensor... it won't work in temperatures around 100 degrees) that automatically turns on the light in the garage.

Overall I would say the product concept is very good, but the product is of mediocre quality.

I couldn't get this from Home Depot, where I bought the opener, any cheaper than I had it shipped directly to my home via Amazon. Works great! Easy to install.

Easy replacement for existing button. useful in a garage that can be entered through a door other than the garage door.

A little pricy for a simple device.

I love love love this gadget. I used to hate walking into the garage and by method of touching wall in the dark try and find light switch. Now, i don't have to do that anymore! This little thing detects your presence and once you open the door it turns the light on! How cool is that?! It works just a regular garage opener, very easy to attach to the wall and comes with this little extra feature of turning lights on for you so you don't have to walk in the dark. I definitely recommend it.

The one I had broke so I sent them money and they sent me a replacement. Uneventful retail transaction unworthy of review.
