SEQUEL TO THE AMAZON TEEN BEST SELLER RIPPLER
Sixteen-year-old Samantha Ruiz has a lot on her mind. The crush who kissed her but changed his mind. The BFF who thinks Sam is in an abusive relationship. The Nazi-geneticist who wanted Sam dead but now wants her ALIVE. All this, and she's still dealing with a tendency to disappear into thin air. When Sam learns of her nemesis Helmann's Nazi-like plan to re-establish a Thousand-Year Reign, she's determined to fight him. Along with Will and Mickie, Sam flees to France to meet Sir Walter--their best hope for stopping Helmann's brave new world. Unfortunately, Sam isn't any safer in France. Someone invisible is following her, and now Sam must figure out how to hide from an enemy she can't even see.

From the Back Cover

My eyes followed the curve of space between us, a pathway of places where we didn't touch, where our bodies might intersect but didn't.. . . I ached for how his hand would feel pressed into my hand. For his lips melting with mine. For wishing his head resting upon my shoulder meant something more . . .

About the Author

Hey Book Lovers! My name is Cidney and I'm a full time writer of young adult science fiction and fantasy novels. (That is, when I can persuade my cat to move off the keyboard.) I'm easily distracted by shiny things such as new book covers, direct sunlight, and Mars set against an inky night sky. My year so far has included learning to milk goats, baking thirteen pies for friends who wanted Wedding Pie instead of cake, and trying to tan my pasty-white Oregon skin. (That last isn't going too well.) If you'd like to visit, I hang out at cidneyswanson.com where I natter on about this and that assuming I haven't been distracted by something shiny.

5.0 out of 5 stars sooooo good! March 3, 2012
By Only Na
Format:Kindle Edition
Usually I'm disappointed by the second and third books in a series. The first book creates the world, involves me in character's lives, and I end up buying the rest of the trilogy (or series) based on the strengths of the first book.... but am not as impressed by the subsequent books. Chameleon was different!
I got the book this morning- was able to find some free time this afternoon to finish it- and I can't wait to read the third book in this trilogy!
The suspense was increased without making it too over the top, there are quirkier characters introduced while keeping the ones you love, the drama is more intense while still remaining believable, and the descriptions still draw beautiful mental pictures (both of locations and- my favorite- what glass/stone/wood "taste" like when you ripple).
Also, big props for not rehashing the entire plot of the first book within the first chapter of the second book (a la Rowling). I was able to dive right back into the world created in book one with hardly a ripple (sorry, couldn't help it!), but without all the extra work of skipping over boring retelling of a book I just finished last night!

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome... couldn't put it down!! March 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
i read the first two books in two days... i just could not put them down... unfortunately i finished the second book at 11pm which is the only reason why i didn't buy the third book right away. i knew that i wouldn't get to sleep at all if i started reading it.
i love the tempo of the story, it never gets boring but still it does not seem rushed.
i am already sad when i think aboub that the next book is also the last... i would love more to read about sam and will and everybody else in the book!!

5.0 out of 5 stars 2nd best trilogy I've ever read March 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Story-telling at its finest! Great writing style, characters you care about, and even some historical elements thrown in for fun! I read the entire trilogy in three days, losing quite a bit of sleep. The last trilogy I read that quickly was the Hunger Games, and this was every bit as entertaining. My only complaint WAS that I thought the ending to the third book, Unfurl, was abrupt. However, after careful consideration, I realized that I just didn't want the story to end!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoying this trilogy! March 9, 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
As a non-YA reader, I've been caught up in the first two books. Just finished this 2nd book, & am going to read the 3rd one soon. I love the descriptions of running, & of running while out-of-body...reminds me of a dream-motif I've had over many decades of effortlessly flying/running weightlessly. Am enjoying the characters & their growth, and the eugenics-musings are evilly believable. Well-written & edited - (not full of Kindle-edition errors), good pacing, and unexpected twists in plot. Wish I could ripple!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Exciting Read!! February 5, 2012
By PatyB
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
My goodness! It has been a while since I've been so sucked in by a series of books. My husband and I read the first one together, and I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't wait for him when I got the second one. Read it in a day! I did summarize the book for him after, though and he is reading it for himself as well. He did mention from the first book that he really liked that the author didn't shove romance down your throat. I completely agree- even in the 2nd book. I think the author puts just enough in there to remind readers of the thrill of first love, but not so much that it makes you roll your eyes. I love reading books with my husband, but he usually checks out when it has too much romance. I'm glad we were able to share these stories together.

I especially love that it is a sci-fi novel and not anything I have read before. I've already recommended it to all of my friends! I can definitely see these books being turned into a movie. I'm excited to move on to the next novel and can't wait to see what other books this author will put out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chameleon December 16, 2011
By Megan
Format:Paperback
'Chameleon' was definitely worth the wait! I enjoyed every page of this book! I don't read a lot of fantasy, but there is just something I love about this series!

In this book, Sam, Will and Mickie travel to France to meet with Waldhart de Rochefort (Sir Walter). He teaches them more about Rippling or being a Chameleon - as he calls it. It is also from Sir Walter that they learn more about the experiments that were in the "Black Book" and about the man who conducted them.

In 'Rippler' I didn't like Mickie, Will's older sister and his guardian, at all. I thought she was very annoying, but my opinion of her changed greatly in 'Chameleon'. I actually like her now. She is still bossy and controlling, because she cares for Will and Sam's safety, but the manner in which she does it wasn't annoying to me at all this time.

Gwyn, Sam's best-friend, won't speak with Sam until she stops seeing Will, because Gwyn believes that Sam is being physically abused by him. She doesn't believe Sam when she tells her that Will isn't hurting her. Sam can't tell her the real cause of her injuries, because that would mean telling her about her ability and in turn Will's ability. I felt so sorry for Gwyn in the last book because of this. I mean she cares so deeply for her friend and hates seeing her hurt. She thinks that she is doing a good thing, but she is so far off base!

I loved 'Chameleon' even more than 'Rippler' and I can't wait to read the next book in this series! I highly recommend these books. I think that you would very much enjoy these books, especially if you like fantasy. Because the story is a continuation, they should be read in order.
