2009 CD EP release, a collaboration between New Zealand singer/songwriter Liam Finn (son of Neil) and his live co-hort Eliza Jane. Recorded in April in Auckland, Champagne In Seashells is bigger and bolder than its predecessor, revealing new lyrical complexities and pointing in daring new musical directions. The self produced EP was mixed by legendary sonic wizard Tchad Blake (Gomez, Pearl Jam).

...but Amazon felt entitled to foist it onto me anyway. It's shameful that they would take advantage of a software upgrade to include this promotional item, and it speaks poorly to the character of the music artists that they felt this was at all an acceptable form of advertisement.

I saw Liam Finn and Eliza Jane in Memphis and was instantly captured by their energy and creativity on stage. I'm happy that same energy translates well to this recording. It is clear that Liam has inherited a great deal of talent from his family. He shows it off well with a mastery of the guitar and various electronic gizmos to enhance his talent.

I was quite smitten by "I'll Be Lightning", and on first listen found this EP to be a satisfying continuation of that work. The songs are haunting, Liam and Eliza Jane are wonderful performers, but I found I was distracted and irritated by the electronic noodling in the arrangements. Nevertheless, a good sophomore effort. The more I listen to it, the more I enjoy it.
