It was really easy to install (less than 5 minutes).

This product seems to be well made it doesn't add weight as it is made of some type of polymer as for the durability only time will tell.

The way it is designed allows you to pull the mag release like you pull the trigger to drop the magazine and it works well.

Got this in the mail with 2 day shipping. The install was extremely simple: just remove the 2 flathead screws on the 10 22 (Stock and barrel band), remove the barrel/trigger assembly (all one piece) and pop out the retention pin for the original mag release (I used the end of the screw from the barrel band). Then you pop in extended mag release, replace the pin (test it to make sure it is seated properly) and put the whole thing back together. Easy.

The piece seems very sturdy as well, made of rigid synthetic material. This is an absolute must for all Ruger 10 22 owners, in my opinion, and costs less than $10, well worth it for the trouble saved.

As you can see from the overall rating and other reviews this is a great product; and I fully agree. I've shot a lot of 10/22's from several generations so I have a few details here that are worth noting. First of all, the recent generations of 10/22's come with an extended magazine release already. That recent upgrade is also plastic! Note that many other reviewers agree this is a great product but they're skeptical of the polymer (plastic) material. Well Ruger themselves have deemed plastic to be the appropriate material for their factory models. That should put you at ease regarding the material. The last thing I want to mention is this model operates in the opposite direction of the factory versions. For example, the recent factory models that already have the extended release, that release must be pushed forwards (towards the muzzle, opposite of the trigger). This model (which I prefer) operates by pulling in the same direction as the trigger. That is just a matter of preference although some may say one is superior; I won't get into that. This is a great upgrade for any 10/22 missing the extended release and the price is a home run.

Keep in mind this part is plastic. It dropped right into my 10/22 with no modifications. The fact that it is plastic does not really seem to matter because this part is not under much stress.

Installed quickly and easily, instructions were barely necessary. Would have rated a steel product a 5 but the molded plastic works well for its intended use. I wish I had bought something like this a long time ago, very functional.

Installation couldn't be easier; on my 10/22 the only tool requried was a flat-blade screwdriver to remove the stock bolt. Removed action from stock, relieved tension on factory mag release by pressing the button inside the mag well, tilted receiver to one side and retaining pin fell out. Inserted Shooters Ridge mag release, reinserted retaining pin, let go of the mag retention button -- done.

Used a little Tri-Flow to lube the friction points, reinstalled stock (one bolt), and finished.

Works great -- a much more fluid & natural action to release the mag compared to the factory design.

Would have given 5 stars if this were made of steel rather than high-strength nylon. Guess we'll have to see how long it lasts. Though I have a Remington Nylon 66 that's had -- easily -- 10,000 rounds through it, and it still shoots great.

Installation was very easy, requiring only a flat-head screwdriver and a toothpick (or small drift punch if you have one handy). I really like how it simplifies magazine changes, essentially giving you a "second trigger" to pull after the last shot is fired. The only downside I've found so far is that this "second trigger" slightly blocks access to the bolt hold-open/bolt release button. I would not recommend this part to 10/22 owners who have not installed an atomatic bolt release such as New Volquartsen Automatic Bolt Release Ruger 10 22 22lr Magnum Rifles Silver Finish Drop-In.

ZERO STARS.Absolute junk. Will not reset after pulling the release. This was installed on a newer and well taken care of rifle. After trying to figure out why this was hanging up or rubbing on any part of the action I was getting pretty pissed off.I tried to lightly sand certain parts of the mag release to try and releave the "sticking open" problem. After multible attempts I re-instaled the stock Ruger release. For $7 bucks I will end up not returning this as it would be more effort than its worth.Do yourself a favor and buy a better mag release. For being made here in the U.S. I am shocked at the crummy quality.

Im very mechanically inclined and have transformed my 10/22 into a tactical rifle and was going to add this mag release to the mix but cannot get it to work correctly. It will not release the magazine plunger to the original position after pulling it to release the magazine. I've lubed it, filed it down in areas that I thought that it was rubbing, and still cannot get it to return to what I would call the home position. I'm not sure what, if anything I'm doing wrong, or if this particular design is more suited for the older style 10/22's with the steel receiver instead of the new Ruger's with the plastic receivers but I can't get it to work. It looks like a solid part and that it would last forever for those that are getting it to work correctly. No problems with the manufacturing of the part, solid construction.
I hate to be the first to give a bad review but it's not working for me. Isn't worth shipping back and I'm not the type to give up so if I keep at it and do get it to work I will update this review.
