Years later, while attending the Teachers College in Lincoln, NE, Sandoz's teachers encouraged the aspiring author to write about what she knew. That, and her love of the prairie, set her on the course of celebrating the plains through print. Both titles contain fictionalized dialogue. In spite of this, regional collections may want to purchase these titles. The inviting formats, easy-to-read texts, and black-and-white photographs and sketches will draw both reluctant readers and report writers.-
