This CD is certainly not the same as Controversy Loves Company. You can still tell it is The Audition but its not a repeat. There are times when it sounds a little bit like Emery without the screaming, partially because of the similarity between the singers voices and at other times it sounds a little like Panic At The Disco. Those were just the thoughts that popped into my head when I was listening to it. Probably not quite as good as their first CD but it is still a very good listen.

Think twice before buying this one...,

I loved The Audition as soon as I heard "Dance Halls Turn to Ghost Towns" off of their first album. I love the catchy 'bang hour head and rock out' type of melody that The Audition deliver. I thought the best songs off of Controversy Loves Company was "You've Made Us Conscious," "It's Too Late," and "Don't Be So Hard." So that's where I'm coming from...
This album though, is far from that. It's somewhat melodic, and there are some pretty good riffs, but the songs aren't really stick-in-your-head memorable or the kind of song that makes you want to sing it in the shower. It's obvious that The Audition wanted to experiment with different sounds on this album, and they definitely did. I don't want to say that this album is bad, far from it--but it wasn't what I was expecting after listening to Controversy Loves Company. Think twice before buying this one.

Love this band! Can't figure out why more people don't know who they are. Defintely a little Panic At The Disco sound to these guys, but who cares every song on Champion is very good....

Champion is by far the best yet from the Audition..the vocals are great and there is just something infectious about this band..They have that awesome Pop Punk rock sound but with a nice Grove to them..its awesome..If i can give it more stars i would.not one bad song on here.

I agree with Steve's comparison to the band Over It and Jlau1's comparison to Panic! at the Disco. The album also contains elements that remind me of Fall Out Boy and Maroon 5. Each listen will be better than the last with this album. I normally get tired of albums after a few listens, but I've listened to "Champion" at least 15 times and am still far from being weary of it. I'd suggest listening to "Hell to Sell" if you're considering getting the album. It's probably their most approachable song on the first listen.

Controversy Loves Company was really good but this is even better. The Audition sounds great.

Why aren't these guys more well known?,

This album is fantastic. I agree with the other 3 comments and that it is a moderately different sound than CLC, but it's still awesome. I personally like this album better, although its pretty even. My one minor gripe about this album would be that alot of the songs in the middle sound really similar to each other (I guess that's not too bad if they all rock?!) The Audition might be the only artist that has 2+ CD's out and every single song has a 5 star rating in my iTunes. No one I've talked to doesn't like this band, why aren't they bigger?

Nothing short of amazing,

Champion is as solid of a pop-punk album as you could ever ask for. Although I agree with most of the other reviews on the presence of Panic! Fall out boy, and yes even a little maroon 5 styles in their songs, This is one of the most complete albums I have heard in years. Unlike the other bands mentioned, the entire CD is infectious. Every single track on Champion is seemingly catchier than the last, setting the stage for a CD you can truly enjoy from start to finish. This is what all of those other bands have unsuccessfully tried to create. With the release of Champion, The Audition has done what some, including myself, would have considered impossible; create a pop-punk CD you actually want to listen to more than once. Buy this Album.

the audition hadn't had a cd in three years, so i expected this to be way better than it actually is. theres a completely different vibe on this album. the first cd had the "you hurt be but im moving on" kind of energy flowing from it, while this album has the "i want you in my bed" energy. there two completely different cd's, but still the same audition. they sound similar to the band "over it", and sadly i could hear a little good charlotte in them on this one. on your first listen, the tracks that first stick out are basbhat, warm me up, what gets you through the night, and have gun will travel. other than that, you have to giv 'champion' a few listens. nothing will compare to 'controversy loves company', but i hope they mature and improve on their next cd. although it wont attract you right away, give this one a chance. its a solid album that will grow on you, and defnitly has a nice upbeat vibe to it.
