The Champion hole cutters are being made in Japan so they are Japanese in origin as well as at the "Japanese" quality level - which is considered the bottom tier for TCT hole cutters. Designed for light duty use in metal it is a big step up from a bi-metal hole saw though that is true for almost any hole cutter.

Cuts stainless steel sheet relatively well though important always with stainless to use an extremely low RPM, otherwise the stainless steel will temper and become harder as you try to cut it. By extremely low I mean 200 RPM at most and 100 RPM is better.

This particular hole cutter is meant for cutting sheet steel that is 3/16 inch or about 5mm thick. The pilot bit is removable but the diameter is not a common one nor is the length for pilot bits readily available in the USA so a good idea to exercise caution and not take a chance of breaking it.

Most TCT hole cutters like this come in a plastic storage case that includes a hex wrench for the set screw used to secure the pilot bit. Not so with the Champion hole cutters which come in a blister pack so you need to find a box to store the hole cutter and hex wrench when it is not in use.

I was looking for a hole cutter to cut through 1/8" stainless steel. After watching their video cutting through "so called stainless steel plate" I purchase it to find out it cut only 8 holes before failing. I called the company and they said I must have been cutting at the wrong speed, so I got another and changed the belts on the drill press to match their recommended speed and used cutting oil and could only cut a few before once again the cutter became dull and useless. Don't waste you money.

For stainless steel the tungsten carbide teeth cut very well but the speed needs to be kept much slower than for mild steel and cutting oil helps. Good life overall and number of holes before sharpening is much higher than I could dream of getting with bi-metal hole saws.

These are medium grade cutters and are good as a step up from bi-metal hole saws. When working in food plants or hospitals I use the Metal Pro instead as they will mount on the Hole Pro arbor adapter that works with their dust shields.

Blue Boar TCT Metal Pro 1-3/8" (35mm) tungsten carbide hole cutter. Up to 5/16" thick stainless steel, sheet metal, cast iron, aluminum, copper, brass, steel plate, fiberglass, FRP. More holes per dollar than high speed steel or bi-metal hole saws

I bought this hole saw to cut 42 holes in a stainless steel panel board. I have always used Greenlee hole saws, but Greenlee discontinued making the 11/16" (18 mm) so I decided to try the Champion brand. It is a durable looking saw, with a two step pilot drill and precision ground carbide cutter teeth.
This product actually performed better than the Greenlee saws of similar sizes, primarily due to the Champion saw has narrower teeth and makes a thinner cut and penetrated the plate faster.
I cut all 42 holes in less than an hour and the teeth cut just as well at hole #42 as at hole #1. I used "Rapid Tap" cutting fluid for the pilot as well as the saw cut and had no overheating issues.
I recommend this saw for anyone cutting stainless steel

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hole saw. And the great price didn't hurt my happiness at all. I beat the crap out of this tool, (and myself) but did use cooling lubricant in most cases. Heat is heat after all and the tool will obviously last longer if taken reasonable care of. Did 67 holes through heavy gauge galvanized steel framing on a home. Keep tabs on the spring because depending on how brutal the position of the cutting is, the spring can pop out once in awhile. Really nice tool. Will buy Champion again. Five Stars.

The Champion tungsten carbide hole cutters are much faster than a bi-metal hole saw and the tips are really teeth attached to the side of the hole cutter. Cuts even stainless steel without much difficulty so long as I keep the RPMs very very low. Cutting oil also helps with speed of cutting in stainless. Pilot bit is 6mm so if it breaks you will never find another one at your local hardware store.

We started to use the new Metal Pro tungsten carbide hole cutters from Blue Boar. They cut the same and cost a lot less. Best part is that they use a 1/4 inch pilot bit so spares are easy to find if we break one on the job.

Blue Boar TCT Metal Pro 1-1/4" (32mm) tungsten carbide hole cutter. Up to 5/16" thick stainless steel, sheet metal, cast iron, aluminum, copper, brass, steel plate, fiberglass, FRP. More holes per dollar than high speed steel or bi-metal hole saws

By far the smoothest drill bit I have used to cut thru 90 mill PET. Cuts like butter and automatic discharge via spring loaded center bit.
