Key thing to know is that you are purchasing only ONE Dumbbell. I overlooked that one key point and ended up ordering a second dumbbell later to complete my set.

...you get what you pay for. Not in a bad way. It seems like you get a heck of a discount for not having fancy handles and such. A great product and a lot cheaper to build a collection of weights at a much cheaper cost!

First off, these dumbbells are a good per pound value. I won't deny that. However, I found the "ergo" handle less comfortable than a standard dumbbell handle. This was my opinion, and 5 out of 5 people I asked agreed. People bigger than myself agreed, so I don't think that the added size was the only reason.

My opinion would be to try to find these locally so you can compare to a more standard handle.

One of two boxes was destroyed in shipping (dumbbell was actually sitting on top of a ripped up box when I got home), but the weight was without a scratch, so I wouldn't really hold that against it.

As an alternative, I purchased a full set of Cap Barbell Solid Hex Single Dumbbell's which I purchased locally for the same price as these Champion dumbbells.

None of the 5 star reviews are wrong, and the value is there. I just wanted to add that the handles which are designed to improve grip / comfort aren't necessarily suited for everybody.

I didn't think it would be hard to deliver satisfactory weights. They just need to weigh, right?

The packaging was completely destroyed when they arrived. I literally pulled the weights out of the cardboard boxes without a tear or cut. I just reached in through large box holes and pulled them out. The weights had chips all over. Appearance isn't too important, but when you pay for something that is used you still expect a notice or warning that you are getting something used.

The weights look like a high school kid repaired them in shop class. There is lots of extra and malformed materials all around where the weight meets the handles.

There are also chips of excess material that isn't well filed around the hand-grips. Of all the problems, this is the worst as it actually causes pain on the heavier weights. I'll have to file it down myself and wear gloves to be able to use these.

Sadly, I wasn't expecting much, but was still pretty disappointed.

If it helps, I bought 2, 25 pound weights.

I orded a pair of 40 pound and then a pair of 35 pound ergonomically handled dumbbells and I am very satisfied with them. The handles have a different feel to them at first but you will soon get used to them. What you will like is the cheaper price. The ergonomic handled DB's are much cheaper than the regular handled dumbbells. The dumbbells were in good condition when I received them and I wouldn't hesitate to order other dumbbells of different weights.

The dumbbells were received in fine condition. It should be pointed out that the order is for a single dumbbell so two must be ordered, but all in all, a good value for a set of dumbbells.

Superbly designed, no muss - no fuss. WHile the packaging was simply destroyed, no harm was done to these beasts. Great value and would highly recommend. BTW, I would absolutely suggest that you use gloves for excessive lifting. My 60 minute workouts produce serious callouses...

Not sure what some of the reviewers were expecting? They are dumbbells. I put them on the scale and they weigh correctly. Handles are comfortable as holding 25 lbs in your hand can be. Thanks!

I have pricing dumbbells for a few weeks now. I have been to several stores in my area, checked e-bay and craigs list. These were the best bang for the buck I have found. They were brand new and looked great. I would highly recommend this purchase.

The weight of this is just right for me. I'm currently 140 lbs. and can do 15 lifts for 2-3 reps with 1.5 minute intervals. I'm not saying that to brag by any means, just to give an example. If your around my weight, you should be fine with lifting this. If you get this and can't lift it, then I suggest lifting a 25-30 lb for a few days and work your way up. As a note of caution, this product does scratch wood flooring, so I recommend either setting this down on a batch towel or carpet flooring. Also, this dumbbell has some grip, but not enough to grip if your hands get sweaty. I suggest wearing a glove with grip on it (preferably with bumps on it or possibly biking gloves).
