After seeing that a pair of tournament shoes costs about $50-$60, I opted for this $40 set. I am not a horseshoe fanatic and was just looking to pick up a new hobby. A friend and I went to a local park to try our hand at shoe pitching the day I received the set. This park had horseshoe pits that consisted of dirt around the stake and concrete outside of the stake area. Within the first half hour one of the shoes hit the concrete area and broke. The metal appeared to be crystalized at the fracture point. Steel shoes make a high pitched ring when struck, these make a duller sound. In short I am not satisfied with the quality of the product and only recommend it for a cheap practice shoe that you don't care about.

This is an exceptional horseshoe set with only one suggestion for improvement-a 30" or 36" set of pins rather than the adequate 24".

One of my horseshoes broke when i threw it and it hit the concrete. I am very disappointed about that because i had high hope about this product and it is not real steel as you indicated.

We just moved from an apartment complex to a space where there is lawn, so what else would make sense more than Horseshoes? I looked at several different brands before deciding on the all-steel set I purchased. What made the difference was the two different colors of shoes and the molded carry case. When they arrived I was impressed with the weight of the shoes, just the weight they should be, and the poles long enough to drive in to the ground with the proper exposure, and yet strong enough to stand up to the weight of the thrown shoe. One disappointment is that the gold and silver paint on the shoes chips off easily, and one good game left them looking fairly well chipped. But, for the price and purchase, I would recommend buying this set.

Unfortunately one of the horseshoes broke the first time it was used. The shoes weren't quite as durable as I had imagined (I thought they would be made out of some type of hard metal like iron). Furthermore, the gold and silver paint coating the horseshoes rubbed off on our hands as we played with them - I hope the paint is not lead-based! Overall, I'm sorry to say that while I would love to recommend the game of horseshoes, I would not recommend this product. The customer service was very helpful in helping me arrange to return the product though - so that was nice!

Survived hours of play by pre-teen boys last Thanksgiving. A good value for the money. All things considered, I recommend the product.

This set of horseshoes is cast and not forged. One of the horseshoes broke in half after only five minutes of playing. The set will not last for very long before breaking. Will be returning these and getting a set of forged steel shoes.

Made in china. Cheap material. We used the first two only on the first day. One broke. Took another out, both broke. Now the 4th one broke. Literally have not used these for a full day and they are all broken.
Surprised to learn it is complicated to make a quality set of horseshoes. Of course by the time I came online, its too late to return the item.

since when does steel break.the first game i was playing i hit the stake and the shoe broke in half.so much for playing shoes at a family outing. they werent cheap and i paid extra for speedy shipping.my suggestion'dont buy these
