5.0 out of 5 stars Get it with the heavy duty replacement ball
This is a fun game that plays like the original Zimm Zamm of the 70's & 80's. However, the manufacturer's ball does break right away. If you want to buy this product make sure that the seller you purchase it from offers a free heavy duty replacement ball. If you purchase the game with the free replacement ball you will get a lot of great play out of this game. Without the...

1.0 out of 5 stars It broke the first day
The only reason I didn't return the item was because my son played with the parts independently after the ball went flying off the string within minutes of being set up, and the pole was filled with dirt. Oh well. I had the first versions of this game when it was called "Zim Zam" and was sold at Montgomery Wards a looong time ago. It quite literally lasted about 20...

It quite literally lasted about 20 years. When it finally pooped out, I started trying to find alternative versions for my kids to enjoy. We simply count on them lasting no more than one year. How sad is that? This was the most disappointing. We will not make a repeat purchase.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor imitation!!!, May 7, 2011

I absoulutely loved zim-zam and was looking for another. This was a poor imitation! First trying to put the pole in the ground. There is a start formation on the bottom of the pole. This does not make it east to go into the ground. We ended up bending the flimsy thing! We ended up finding something to make a smaller hole first then putting the pole in. After finally getting the flimsy pole in the ground we started playing. After literally the 5th hit the ball broke in two. Yep split right in half it did. the only thing holding it together was the fabric on the outside. After another five hits it totally separated. I don't think the pole will hold much longer if we do get a replacement ball or drill into a tennis ball!!! Such a shame since the game is so much fun!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not as sturdy as Zimm Zamm, but still as much fun!, June 12, 2011

Our family played Zimm Zamm for HOURS when I was a kid. To say my Dad was a little crazy about it would be an understatement. So I recently bought this new version for my own family. As the other reviews state, it is not as sturdy as the original by any means. But thanks to those reviews, we found a retailer that included some heavier duty tennis balls. The pole is not as sturdy either and is shorter than the original game. But the bottom line is, we have had a BLAST with this all weekend. We replaced the swivel hook with a small caribiner and that is holding fine for now. If we keep playing this as much as we have this weekend, we may use this as a "model" to make our own sturdier version eventually. If you have never played, you should still give this a try.

Received this in a timely fashion, and purchased it on the recommendation of someone as a gift for my soon to be 5 year old twin grandchildren. Took it to them for their birthday last week, set it up, and in demonstrating how to use it the ball came right off of the string and there is no way to re-anchor it and have it remain on. It is very flimsy construction. My daughter had commented on this as she was attaching the ball with the string. I am going to try to return it and get my money back. Can't seem to get in touch with anyone about this even Amazon. How can I contact a live person????

It's really sad when you take something out of the box for a family get together and they all ask if you got it at the dollar store. It broke 3 times the first day. Very poor quality! Ball had to be replaced twice and pole bent after 1 hour of play. DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!!

They don't make these like they used to. My 8-year-old son was able to get the tennis ball to come loose the very first week. I used to love this game as a teenager and the ball always did break but it took a lot longer than a week for it to happen. I would avoid this one unfortunately but I will be contacting the manufacturer and I will update this post once they respond.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great, February 8, 2010

My 10 yo daughter loves it and has spent hours playing with it. The tennis ball holder broke off so, by trial and error, I figured out how to puncture tennis balls and re-attach. The string broke too so I replaced it with stronger string. No one seems to make a sturdier version so I guess this is as good as it gets.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality- big bust, January 1, 2012

I bought this as a birthday present for my athletic, 10 year old god son. It was a huge disappointment. It tangles constantly. It isn't worth the money, particularly when you pay for the more durable replacement ball. It doesn't compare to the Zim Zam game of yesteryear. That's what it was compared to and what I was hoping for.
