5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book Available On The Phillies 2008 Championship Run, December 10, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Champions: A Look Back at the Phillies Triumphant 2008 Season (Hardcover)
There have been a few books released on the Phillies championship run. This book is easily the best of those already available. The pictures in particular are magnificent. Sports Illustrated has always been known for their great photos, but the pictures in this book put those in the Sports Illustrated magazine and commemorative book to shame. Shane Victorino is my favorite player and the photos of him rounding the bases after his grand slam off Sabathia and then being restrained by his team mates after a ball was thrown at his head during the playoffs with the Dodgers are priceless. This will make a great holiday gift for any Phillies fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars A champion book for a championship team, November 16, 2008

This review is from: Champions: A Look Back at the Phillies Triumphant 2008 Season (Hardcover)
Finally Philly doesn't only have a Championship team, but also a spectacular book to commerate a fabulous year of the World Champions, the Philadelphia Phillies. This book, written by the Philadelphia Inquirer captures the raw emotion and the important details of this special team. I am amazed by the quality of the full color pictures - they pop out of the page - and you really feel the spirit and joy of this hard working team. I bought one copy for my family - but after seeing the book, we are now buying it for holiday gifts and for our former Philadelphia friends living elsewhere. This is a great deal and a beautiful keepsake. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the wait, December 22, 2008
This review is from: Champions: A Look Back at the Phillies Triumphant 2008 Season (Hardcover)
Being 24 years old now, before this season I had never seen a Championship team in Philadelphia. So, like many others around my age, I went crazy on October 29th, 2008 when Brad Lidge struck out pinch hitter Eric Hinske to win the World Series in 5 games (I was at the rain soaked Game 3 which didn't start until 10 and ended 2 AM-and there wasn't an empty seat in the stadium).

Anyway-on to the review. My point being is that this book perfectly captures the essence of appearing in, and winning, The World Series. Great pictures, great writers, everything that I hoped for the second the last out was made. As a Phillies fan for 24 years, I would have expected nothing less.
