5.0 out of 5 stars Why it's worth every penny you spend on this game.
When I first rented this game I had low expectations of it because of the new 2001 Carmichael which is a total disapointment. Unlike it's sequel this one is the best because the tracks are pretty close to real and the pop-in does not make you sick (unlike the 2001 version which is simple you could beat it in one day, that's if you didn't die of bordom!) Anyways, the game...

3.0 out of 5 stars VERY DIFFICULT TO THE POINT OF NOT FUN, RENT FIRST
ITS A FUN GAME WITH VERY REALISTIC HANDLING AND PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES OF THE BIKES. AS A MOTO XER MYSELF I ENJOY IT. THE ANALOG SHOCK ADDS TO IT. HOWEVER I ONLY RATED IT AS A THREE BECAUSE ITS INCREDIBLY HARD. GOOD LUCK GETTING PAST A RACE OR TWO, EVEN IN THE 125CC CLASS. OVERALL I'D SAY RENT FIRST, BUY LATER IF YOU LIKE IT.

Unlike it's sequel this one is the best because the tracks are pretty close to real and the pop-in does not make you sick (unlike the 2001 version which is simple you could beat it in one day, that's if you didn't die of bordom!) Anyways, the game physics are top notch, the tricks are pretty wicked even though there isn't any points for doing the tricks. But hey it's a 1999 game. Anyways the A.I. in the game is top notch! If you're the kind of guy who likes to play easy games then play 2001 version. This one I actually had to use their "Practice" mode and it helped me alot. The game isn't hard to the point that the comp smokes you every race. You just have to learn to configure the bike to each course. Once you beat the 500cc class you get rewarded with a preview and "Mirror Mode" which is very nice, it gives the game more replay value. I'm still playing this game cause' it rocks both multi-player and single-player. In other words instead of going NEW for the 2001 which sucked. Go for the classics. (Even though the MX 2002 looks pretty hot when it comes out I'm jumpin for it.) To wrap this up BUY this game it might look simplistic but it's fun till' the 30th time you play it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Dirt Bike Game Yet, April 17, 2000

This game has the feel of real riding. The control, graphics, sound, and music are great. It's not to terribly hard, but it's not too easy either. And racing against your friends is a blast. If you've tried the other motocross games out there, you have got to try this one, it's the best one yet! The others fail in comparison to this one.

I gave this game a four because it does not allow the user to create their own tracks and it does not have real bikes. For instance, they should have Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki, but they have Hamaha or something like that. I think the game play is GREAT! I find myself playing this game over and over again. Allowing users to create tracks would add to the longevity of the game. In my opinion, this game has the best game play of all the motocross or supercross games out there. If you rent this game, you will end up buying it.

"So you wanna be a Champion?!"

This game does not have the best graphix and it's not the most complex in it levels or backgrounds. Do you want a game that you and your friends play over and over again trying to get the fastest lap or the highest jump slipping and sliding through mud, stone, and caked-up dirt all over the world? This is your game. A great deal for those who just like it simple, engaging and fun!

I dont know why people think this game is hard. It is absolutly one of the easiest games I,ve ever played! The game play is really good, the graphics are also pretty desent. The only draw back is the lack of tricks, and tracks. In the begining Ricky Carmicheal does a pancake whip but you cant do one in the game, also if you could design your own tracks that would contribute to the game! Overall it is a great game.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Championship Motocross (Video Game)
Wow! Turns out I bought this game from Amazon about 9-10 years ago. It popped up on my screen to review my "purchased products"!

At the time, I loved this game. Good graphics, good gameplay. If by some chance your still playing PS1 and you see this at a garage sale, pick it up!

5.0 out of 5 stars still the best dirtbike action around, February 25, 2004
This review is from: Championship Motocross (Video Game)
Even though I own and enjoy MX Superfly, Speed Kings and Moto GP 2 on Xbox, Freekstyle on GameCube and Excitebike on N64, I still find myself returning to Championship Motocross on the good old PSX to get my real two wheel racing gaming fix. This is still the best dirtbike action around and a testament to the staying power of Sony's little machine. The graphics are of course a little blocky and pixleized compared to anything nowadays but the gameplay and fun factor more than make up for it and pull you into the game like no other. If you still own a PSX and like racing games, buy this one right now.

I ordered a used playstation game. It came very quickly. But it was not the motorcross game my grandson wanted, it was a music CD. I have since returned it. After 4 e-mails. Provide your Order # and we will refund. Return the product and we will refund. Return to where? Heres an address. I will be surprised when and if I get a credit.

I don't know why that guy a bove my comment found it hard. IT is a great game. It is actually fun and not to hard or easy. To make the jumps pull back on the bike righ before the jump to get MAX air. I am a motocrosser and I race all along the East Coast and this is very realistic. The game is very fasted paced like real raceing and it takes about a day to get used to playing it for non motocrossers but altogether this is a great game and that comment above me is WAY wrong. Buy it!
