My horse-crazy daughter just got a Nintendo DS lite and this is by far her favorite game so far. It took her a little while to figure out how to manipulate the horse with the stylus, particularly when the horse is supposed to jump. But she eventually got the hang of it and now loves to play it. I don't think this would be challenging for older girls, but it's perfect for someone in the 6-8 age range.

I bought this for my daughter on her 6th b-day along with a few other games. She put it in once and then kinda forgot about it and played with the other games as children will do.Then, out of the blue, she put it in and started playing with it and now it is her all time favorite.Go figure. It's an ok game.I would not recommend for older children though.I feel they may lose interest.Basically all you do is run the horse through different courses and make them jump over obstacles.Of course you get timed for each event and win more $$ the better you do.Then you can buy clothes for them and different accessories. All in all a good game for a younger child.Cant beat the price!!!!

I bought this game for my 6yr old girl who LOVES horses. You get to pick your horse and stuff, then purchase your own items like a saddle, a hair braid at the store. You can even buy a new horse! You have to complete competitions in order to get money to use in the store. The competitions were a little hard at first, but my little girl is getting better at them now. You have to steer the horse through some obstacles, sometimes jumping logs and stuff. This is all done with the stylus on the screen, so that was tough for my beginner DS daughter. She has improved though!

It starts out making your player and buy a 1 out of 3 choices than an annoying man appers and says (blah blah) go to the shop (you can't do any thing else except what he says)buy this and that then go...... Once you buy all the horses and finish all the contests you can't do any thing else juststart all over again! Only 6 horses total at the store never changes! Would be good for a 5-7 years I'm 9 almost 10 and have completed everythingin 2 and a half days with school!

My daughter has had many hours of enjoyment playing this game. I was worried that my daughter would be bored of the game quickly. Because of the pricepoint, I didn't expect the game to have much lasting power. But, instead she comes back to it quite often. Her friend borrowed the game and wanted one for her birthday. It has been a great purchase for the price.

My daughter just turned 7 and loves this game. As per all the other reviews, had to learn how to use stylus to make horse do all the moves but once past that learning curve is loving the game. Makes her use her math skills as she likes to save her $ for the prettiest horses. Definitely can't go wrong for the price!!

I bought this game for my 7 year old because she wanted it. I played with it for a little bit when we first got it, I am 29 and it was at first a little frustrating to me and yes I lost interest. When she first started playing she had a little bit of a hard time trying to get the ponies to run and do what they were supposed to do but you have to "train" your horse and it takes some getting used to figuring out all the commands. Basically you start out with a pony and you train it and groom it, you then take it to events, you have to place in the top 3 to win any money, with the money you win you go buy new horses and gear. She loves the game, it has been about 2 months and it is the only game she has been playing. She gets about 30 minutes of DS time ONLY if all homework is done and night time chores are done, so she doesn't get to play all the time, but she still hasn't lost interest so I am guessing it is a good pick for 7-8 year old girls.
