Live Zero Pumps Robert Hunter New Songs,
By Dennis llynch (San Francisco) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Chance in a Million (Audio CD)
Zero's pinnacle moment in the late 90's just after Jerry Garcia died. This was one of the last shows Pete Sears played with the band and one of the only that the late John Kahn played with them. Set in the historic Great American Music Hall, Zero showcased Robert Hunter's new songs sung by Judge Murphy. Steve Kimmock grew into a star and Martin Fiero displayed his distinct saxophone style.

Steve Kimock and band scored a touchdown home-run knockout goal with this live release. The title track deserves a volume crank. The rest is hot rock and grinding electric blues. Grateful Dead's Hunter co-wrote parts. A winner!

Bought this CD a few years ago after reading a review in the New York Times. Absolutely wonderful concert - Martin Fierro's sax and Ste Kimock's guitar work is outstanding. Wish I had been at the concert. This is a must for any collection.
