5.0 out of 5 stars Great training, April 7, 2004
By
I have bought several 'bodybuilding' books from Amazon over the past 6 months, expecting a full body transformation. What happened was that I ran into a lot of thoeries on working out which often contradicted one another (HIT vs. Periodization) and it occured to me that I hadn't found what I was looking for.

I then concentrated on athletic performance as my goal instead of just 'looks' that the sport of bodybuilding strives for. What sport out there is more demanding than football?? NONE! I play for a flag football team and I want to get bigger, faster, and stronger. Luckily, I found "A Chance to Win" with my favorite player on the cover, Mike Vick. The selling point for me was that the workouts on Gentry and Tony are PROVEN time and time again by the quality of football players at V.Tech. This book really covers EVERYTHING you need to know about training your body to become a true athlete like diet, supplements, drills for speed and quickness, and a year long training routine. Excellent book which I'll be using it for a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Written, November 18, 2007

This review is from: A Chance to Win: A Complete Guide to Physical Training for Football (Paperback)
Probably the most well written and thought out book on Strength and Conditioning out there. The authors have succesfully written a book for the layman to apply to themselves or their football program. A perfect book for anyone who does not already have their CSCS, or just wants to help their program or child succed. Not a lot of complicated jargon and theories, rather material that can be applied strait away. Well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome strength, fitness, size program., August 29, 2009
This review is from: A Chance to Win: A Complete Guide to Physical Training for Football (Paperback)
Truly a great program whether you are a serious collegiate level football player, or just a fitness freak wanting to get bigger, stronger, and faster. Follow this program as prescribed and you will be amazed at the results. This is the program that the Virginia Tech Hokies use as their strength training program. Take a look at the stats of players coming in from high school, to their strength, size and speed after a year at VT on the Gentry strength program. The results speak for themselves.
