Chances Are portrays the power of love and understanding in a comedic way. If you love good old sentimental movies with a splash of comedy, as well as a great soundtrack, check out Chances Are! Soundtrack includes Cher and Peter Cetera singing that popular and beautiful song After All, as well as Johnny Mathis' Chances Are and Rod Stewart's Forever Young.

This is my favorite Robert Downey film. It's a completely sappy 80's movie, but that just gives it more charm.

Robert Downey plays a recent college grad (Louie) who is the reincarnated soul of Cybil Shephard's husband. When he meets her daughter, they hit it off. Louie begins remembering things from his former life, frightening the (still mourning over her husband) living daylights out of Corinne. Louie must prove to Corrine that he's not making everything up, or he'll lose her forever.

Excellent acting by the entire cast--Downey really shines. Any of you who stay in Monday nights because you don't want to miss Downey playing Larry Paul on Ally will love this movie!

Chances Are applies to all the people out there that believes that there is always a second chance for everything. The first time I watched this film,i loved it already. It tells us about a man who died right at the time that his wife is gonna have a baby. He begged the people up there to let him go back to his family again, and he came back as a guy who is so much younger than his wife. Cybill Sheperd was the perfect actress for the part of Carin and Robert Downey Jr showed that he is an actor worth of everybody's attention, he was perfect for the part of the reincarnated Louie.

Cybil Shepherd as always is excellent, as is Robert Downey Jr. in this great film.

Alex (Robert Downey Jr) is reincarnated, and suddenly gets his memories from his previous life... only to discover he was the father of his current love interest.

Watching Alex respond to his daughter - or dodging her advances, when she's more interested in being his girlfriend... is quite hilarious! Along with his memories, the emotions (his love for his wife) come back as well. Problems? Convicing his wife who he is, handling his best friend's love interest of his wife, and then dealing with the attraction his daughter has on him.... to name a few!

It's really fun watching him try and convince his wife who he is! You'll be cheering him on, all along the way!!! Sweet, touching, funny, full of emotions and fun from the first frame of the film, all the way to the last! As for the ending (without giving anything away, of course!)... is not quite what I thought it would be... but it's perfect.... and a little odd at the same time!

Excellent Movie !!! I first stumbled across this movie many years ago and liked the movie but since then have grown to love it! A wonderful romantic comedy with a great love story.

After, integrating some metaphysical studies into my life, I have come to believe in reincarnation and this movie touches on this subject with humor and romance.

I think one of the most interesting aspects of the movie is the soundtrack including the "After All" song from Peter Cetera and Cher. If you listen closely to the lyrics of that song, it expresses so eloquently Corrine's and Louie's reunion after his reincarnation and their undying love.

A sleeper. Humor combined with chemistry make this a favorite Robert Downey Jr. movie. A definite must see for all those who love light-hearted comedy.

A couple (Louie and Carin) who ultimately falls in love, gets married...life was perfect. Carin was even expecting a baby. One day, Louie gets into a major car accident; resulting to his death. In heaven, he cheats fate by cutting in line in order to be reincarnated. Louie rushes back into Carin's life only to realize that his former best friend, Phillip, had eyes for his love, Carin. Background music complemented the entire movie. Touching...and overall, a good movie to fall in love with.

This was my favorite movie as a child and I still love to watch it. It has a timelessness to it because although it is fantasy, people can relate to the issues it addresses. There is a good mix of humor and serious topics; anybody would enjoy this movie.

This is one of the rare romantic comedies that comes off making you feel good. In spite of all the potentially creepy or awkward scenes it actually ends up being cute and heartwarming. It's also one of those movies where little details are tied to later plot developments making the whole thing seem more tidy and well-developed. Of course you have to be open to a small suspension of disbelief to accept the reincarnation device and the idea that so many things hadn't changed in the 23 years between the death of Louie and the arrival of Alex, but these things are really minor. This one is definitely worth having in the collection.

Chances Are is adorable. The cast is wonderful and the idea is sweet. It all starts with on the first anniversary of a wealthy, DC couple who are crazy in love and just find out they're pregnant. On the same night, the husband is killed in a car crash. He goes to heaven where he is reincarnated in the form of Robert Downey Jr. By the time Downey's character is 23, he has no recollection of anything, until he meets the couple's daughter, who is also 23. He's beginning to fall for her, but then his memory begins to return and he realizes who he used to be. Long story short, he makes a play for the mother, who never got over her husband's death and wants to believe he's still alive.

I won't tell you how everything ends, but you may be kind of "icked out" by the fact that the daughter is, in essence, attracted to her father. I watched this movie when I was younger and it never really bothered me, but as I got older and really understood it, it kinda wigged me out. Having said that, it's a very sweet movie that wil make you feel all warn and fuzzy in the end.
