I bought this for my husband to replace our old fading outdoor thermometer, only to have the red numbers of this one fade within weeks. I wouldn't buy it again.

The thermometer works fine, but within 5 months the face is faded out to the point that 90 deg. and above is a very light pink, the green area is a light blue. The same goes for the hygrometer. Yes, this unit gets a little morning sun, but no afternoon sun. I would not buy this unit again due to the fading.

I purchased this to keep an eye on the temperature and humidity in my server room. I already had a digital temp/humidity meter, but it has a small display that's hard to see.
I chose this particular model for it's large size, high visibility, and I like the colors ;-).
Pleasantly surprised when I received it to find that is has a real glass front, not cheap plastic.
Mine was a little bit off on the temperature reading, but it's extremely easy to calibrate; just open the door on the back and rotate the little black box until the needle shows the correct temperature. You can also adjust the humidity meter, but mine was right on with my digital meter.
I had checked a few local stores in my area, but none had a model like this one; all they had were bronze or white and I wanted some color. I have Amazon Prime, so shipping was not an issue.

I've owned one of these before and was very pleased with it. However, this version came to me with the hygrometer needle pegged at over 100%. With no enclosed instructions and not wanting to mess with the hassle of shipping it back I discovered an opening behind the hygrometer and began tinkering with the meter in an attempt to calibrate the device. After getting a humidity observation from a local weather report, I was able to use a small screwdriver to turn the meter to the correct reading and now all is well. Since I'm an engineer this calibration technique did not pose much of a problem, but I think it may be too much for the average bear to tackle.

It could not get any worse. This thing faded and warped in no time. Perfectly useless and unreadable. The only nice thing I can say is that it did not set anything on fire.

This large-face thermometer w/ hygrometer is clear enough to see from a distance. I have it on my garden shed, where I refer to it regularly when out doing yard work, and when I pass it to go to my car. The readings are accurate, and work in concert with other weather devices to give a broader overall picture to forecast the day. Very quick delivery, well packed. A great item.

i GOT THIS BECAUSE MY OUTDOOR ONE ON MY DECK ALWAYS GOT HIT BY TOO MUCH SUN OR NONE AT ALL AND ALWAYS READ WAY OFF.
THIS ONE YOU CAN CALIBRATE TO THE CORRECT TEMP AND FORGET IT. UNLIKE MOST EVERY OTHER ONE FOR OUTDOORS I LOOKED AT......THEY WERE NOT TEMP ADJUSTABLE.........THIS ONE IS...........

This is a great product, we bought two of them (they agree with each other - I assume they are accurate) We are using them to monitor the temp and humidity in our house. We heat with wood in the winter and have had some mold problems in the summer. We bought a dehumidifier to combat the mold, but I wanted to know how the temp and humidity varied throughout the house.

For the price, these are a great buy and a good product

We bought this thermometer to replace an older one that stopped giving us accurate readings. We hung it in the same spot, but like other reviewers, we experienced significant fading within a few weeks of purchase. Yes, it gets some morning sun. It also gets rained on--it's supposed to be an outdoor thermometer, after all. Apparently it leaks, as the paper backing is now molding. Very disappointed; would think twice about purchasing a Chaney Instrument item again.

We bought this in mid June and loved how bright the numbers were. You could see them from across the yard. We hung it on our fence, which only gets sun for part of the day. It is now late August and all of the red numbers have disappeared. You have to stand very close to it to see anything. And the green is quickly fading as well. As far as telling you the temp, it works well. But, it is pointless when you can't see the numbers. I would not waste my money on this.
