I've had this weather station for about a year now. I've found that the weather forecast is as accurate as the manufacture says. 75%. Setup is not too difficult. You do have to go on the Internet to find out what the current pressure is for your area, but that's not too difficult. The unit could be a little smaller for its screen. I recieved this weather station for my birthday, and overall impressed with the looks, accuracy, and size of display. I have 5 other weather stations to compare readings, and this weather station is dead accurite. Even fallows the local weather station readings to the nearest millibar. It is hard to figure out the P.M.C.E time zones since the switch is integrated in the - button, but once you figure it out its easy. The transmitter workes better that described. Seems to have a stronger range than specified. I have the sensor located at the opposite side of the house through 6 walls, and signals are still good. I am very pleased.
Highly recommended.

I hunted for a weather station that would include all the usual stuff PLUS the humidity (important in Florida)
This one works great and is accurate for both the indoors sensor and the outdoor one.

I think its a little wasted space. I also have a problem with the radio clock. Even when I turn the feature off, it still sets the time. This wouldn't be too bad except that it sets it for the wrong time zone. I have the instruction book and there is nothing about setting the time zone. The moon clock is also accurate. I've also found this item cheaper than Amazon on other web sites for $59.95.

We use this weather station in our Motor Home and it gives us a clear snapshot of the current conditions. We have used a previous model from this company and were happy with it, so we selected this model for a replacement. We are very satisfied and it has met our expections.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice Idea, lousy programming so so product, September 10, 2007

Where do I start. What seems to work. The clock, calendar, day of the week, moon phases, pressure trend, indoor outdoor temps and humidities. I have had two other "atomic clocks" in this exact same spot and they didn't have any trouble getting the sync signal from Colorado. This clock maybe once a week which is prob ok. The programming and design is a mess. The Forcast (never right), pressure trends and moon phases are scrolling icons. For instance to get the forcast first one cloud, then another cloud, the moon or sun, and third cloud then the forth is displayed. Then it blanks out and starts again. The moon phases, the clock scrolls thru all the possible phases, and the one where it sticks for a longer time then the others is the phase for the night. The pressure trend which like the others could just be a non-scrolling set of icons, scrolls back and forth. So you need more then a passing glance to figure out what the clock is telling you. Saving the programming time for all the scrollng would have allowed for an inside temp and humidity trend. Then the day of the week. Instead of a multi segmented icon for like MON, TUE and so on it displays in very small print each day of the week, which on this clock starts on Monday. Which ever day has a rectangle around it is the current day of the week. The barometer, is always anywhere from .10 to .30 mb's off from the airport which is two miles away. The trend scroll does seem to indicate the trend, but the actual pressure reading is not good. I have had this clock since the first week in August. The forcast has always showed parly cloudy skys, but it has been the rare cloud that has been seen in the sky. Which is ok I can forcast with the pressure trend. Frankly a picture of Milla Jovovich raking leaves in her yard would be of more use then the forcast. So if time, date, day of the week and phases of the moon, temp and humidity is what you want and dont mind waiting for the scolling icons to tell the story then this clock is for you. On the good side, the inside and outside temps are more accurate then the two other weather station "Atomic" clocks I have had. And since you have to look at the clock for so long to get the icon status the fact that it displays the hour, minute and seconds is kinda nice.

1.0 out of 5 stars Multiple defects - instant return, November 22, 2010

Packaging and product construction seemed to be made of unexpectedly cheap materials for this high price, I thought. Defects included:

Faulty LCD screen:
* Clock/Year: Left-most digit did not display at all. "Year" read as " 010" instead of "2010". Time read as " 0:30" instead of "10:30".
* Date: Two vertical bars that constitute a digit failed to display.

Remote humidity reading invalid:
* Its reading leapt to 99% when I placed in dry winter-air porch at 15 degrees F., an off-the-scale, meaningless value.

Normally I dismiss complaints about how hard it is to screw close the remote sensor doors for these kind of systems (since all the manufacturers use miniature screws), but this was the worst I've seen: I literally couldn't close it up in a reasonable amount of time, despite using an eyeglass repair kit. Ultimately gave up, scotch taped the 4th screw to the remote sensor door before repackaging the return.

Thanks, Amazon, for a very convenient return: just printed off your return mail packet with prepaid label, and off it went for full refund.

-

Here's what I bought instead, for several dollars less, and so far I'm loving its convenience, quality of construction, aesthetics, flexibility (I can view my city's weather plus several friends' cities) - plus the fact I don't even have to install a remote sensor in my yard.

* Brookstone WeatherCast Wireless 5-Day Forecaster Desk Clock
http://www.amazon.com/WeatherCast-Wireless-5-Day-Forecaster-Clock/dp/B002MBE2JA

I found this model for $49 on clearance at a Brookstone retail outlet this week. (Appears to be a recently discontinued model, on clearance. I only find similar SKU #588608p on Brookstone's website now.) The Ambient brand data display is working great for me so far, but a fairly high proportion of customer reviewers at Amazon and Brookstone sites, wrote that their Ambient-data provided weather device worked for a few months, then died. (If mine dies, I'll add that to this review.)

5.0 out of 5 stars So far so good., September 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Chaney Instrument Wireless Weather Station (Kitchen)
I purchased this item several months ago to replace a Radio Shack device that had quit working. So far, so good. It seems to be quite accurate, and the large display is easy to read.

We haven't had any rain since I bought the unit, so the weather forecasting part has not really been tested yet. But, I guess if it only rains once-in-a-while, it really doesn't serve much of a purpose for me anyway.

I was surprised it took several hours for the clock to find the radio link, but once it did, it seems to be locked on. The instructions said it might take a while, it was just the the Radio Shack unit locked on in a matter of minutes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inside and Outside Temp and Humidity, December 29, 2008
This review is from: Chaney Instrument Wireless Weather Station (Kitchen)
This "Weather Station" is big enough to read from 15 back. It shows the temp and humidity for both inside and outside. Most don't show it for outside.

The weather part and the barometer aren't useful.

The time can be tricky to set, but if you read the directions it tells you how to switch it from central time to easter.

There is a flaw in the clock though because it's set to adjust for daylight savings based on the old schedule. It's easy to change back, but annoying.

Sure, the border is excessive, but that's a minor detail.

Unfortunately, I think it's been discontinued.

5.0 out of 5 stars Had it for over 4 long years, December 2, 2011
This review is from: Chaney Instrument Wireless Weather Station (Kitchen)
Had it for over 4 long years (moved more than 5 times), and still working fine! The temperature/humidity is fairly accurate, the outdoor sensor too is still working fine, and I have checked the temperature/humidity against weather info for the city on google, and it pretty much gave the same reading with +-5% error.
Only thing - perhaps I should read the manual, couldn't get the atomic thing to work to get right time, and I faintly remember if I did trigger that, I would get wrong time/date etc, so I just set it up manually, which is quite easy to do.
So 5 stars, since it survived 4 years with outdoor sensor (imagine wind, rain, sun, dust...) and still gives accurate time/temp/humidity/date, shows base station battery power......and yes looks not that bad (silver finish). Can be mounted on wall or has a stand to put in shelf/table etc. Have it in my living room.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to set, works great for us!, May 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Chaney Instrument Wireless Weather Station (Kitchen)
I bought this as a replacement for a previous atomic clock/thermometer that quit working after several years. I read review after review before I found one that wasn't at least 90% negative. This one has lived up to it's great ratings. It is very easy to set, and perhaps due to where we live, it corrects the time in a matter of minutes. I'm thinking this one will be a great gift for several people I know. Our instruction booklet was missing a Section 8 that was referenced, but we didn't need it. I did email the address provided with a question about the severe weather adapter (since we live in Arizona); and got a response in 3 days. Not the speediest, but they did respond.
