4.0 out of 5 stars Travel Alarm
Can't beat the quality for the price!! I've been looking for a Seth Thomas travel alarm but haven't been able to find one. I accidently came across this alarm in Amazon. Glad I did! Most inexpensive ones have an alarm that you can hardly hear. No problem waking up with this alarm!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good concept - poor execution
I wish I had been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the timepiece - no such luck. Even the face of this clock was badly done (numbers are arranged in unevenly and it looks like my 9-year-old kid could have designed a better clockface) - the case is made of very cheap plastic. I can't believe I paid 12 bucks for this thing. It is nice that it's wind-up and doesn't...

This travel alarm is perfect for those, who like me, don't want to trust a battery operated clock. A great value for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice little clock, March 21, 2011

I saw a similar clock (different brand) in a catalog for over $40 - too expensive. So I searched Amazon, and found this clock for what I consider a very reasonable price. I've had it for about a year now, and I like it very much. Only two minor drawbacks - mine seems to run a bit fast, gaining about 5 min. in 24 hours, and the time it takes before it runs down seems to vary. So I have to set it and wind it every night, but that's not a problem. It does what I want it to - wake me up in the morning - and it's a lot easier to set than a digital clock. Here are the pluses summarized:
1. Very reasonable price.
2. Works well.
3. Alarm goes off when set.
4. Easy to set.
5. Glow in the dark hands and numbers last all night.
6. Environmentally friendly, since it doesn't use batteries or electricity.

1.0 out of 5 stars unreliable alarm, December 7, 2010

Simply put, the alarm is unreliable. I tested it multiple times, and it usually didn't go off or only rang for an extremely brief time (between a split second and two seconds). One time I picked it up when it failed and then it started ringing! It seems like vibration from the alarm itself messes up the mechanism. Go with a higher quality, more expensive product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap build, winding mechanism insufficient, December 25, 2009

Not cheap as in expensive, just cheaply made. Winding mechanism doesn't even get you 24 hours of operation. Alarm setting a hassle as it goes off as soon as you set the alarm. Avoid, buy something better even if you have to spend a buck more.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Wind; It Ticks!, December 12, 2010

This is a wonderful, packable alarm clock. It has a good, loud alarm ring--however, if you are a heavy sleeper, you might need more clocks to stagger all over the room. The wind-up action lasts approximately for 24 hours. I find this clock keeps accurate time. Great clock for the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not work., August 23, 2010

Good things about this clock: its size, weight, loudness of its alarm, and the fact that it doesn't require batteries.
Bad thing about this clock: It is very cheaply made, and the wind-up mechanisms are placed so close together that it is difficult to get your fingers in there.
Worst thing about this clock: When you set the alarm, you have to understand that it may or may not go off. I tested it for about a week prior to leaving on a trip, just to make sure it was working properly. It kept good time, but the alarm would go off only about 10% of the time. I kept thinking I was doing something wrong, so I read and re-read the instructions. And kept setting it and winding it and waiting for it to go off. Most of the time, it just didn't sound at all. Finally I gave up. I did not return this clock because it would have cost me $5 to mail it back, and it only cost $11 to buy. So I just bought another travel clock that has an alarm that actually does what it is supposed to. If you need a wind-up travel clock that keeps good time and you are not worried about waking up to catch a flight, then this is the clock for you.
