Very good construction. I especially like the real glass, since most clocks have moved to plastic.

I purchased this as a Gold Box Deal at half price. Just wanted a basic clock I could read from across the room. Was pleased to find that it is very nice looking as well. At three inches deep, it is bigger than I expected. Very nice.

Our wall clock in our living room started acting weird after 10 years of hard work so we decided to get a new one. Before buying a new expensive wall clock, our old one started working again (magic) so we decided to get an inexpensive one just in case. I came across the Chaney Instruments Black Matte Clock on Amazon for a great price so I decided to buy it. To my surprise this clock is so much bigger and more elegant than pictured. The picture really doesn't do it justice. It's a lot thicker than most regular wall clocks which gives it a very expensive look. The sides are structured (in steel) like "crown moldings" of a ceiling which makes it look so much grander than ordinary wall clocks. Comes in a very nice box which is great for gifting. Highly recommend this beautiful wall clock!

Edit: Well, it's been a year since we started using this clock and no complains so far. Works great, looks great and the old folks at home can easily tell the time up on the wall. :) Have not changed the battery yet, still on the first battery (1xAA) installed a year ago. When I bought it back in November 2009, it was only $12.33 tax included! Such an amazing price, wish I had gotten a couple more. But even at $39.99, I think it's still worth it.

I had a bad run of purchasing battery-operated clocks which broke down rather fast. This one has continued to function well, a big plus, but the ticking is loud, and I am thinking of getting rid of it for that reason. I am not sure it is much louder than other battery-operated clocks, but I have it in my small classroom, and when I stop talking it's sound is well-distinguished. I would not purchase another one

Classy looking clock. Wanted something descrete in the living room and this is just what I wanted. Attractive looking.

The clock arrived in pieces with broken glass due to the almost complete lack of packaging included with it.
