This cd summarizes the brain imaging research that Dr. Amen has been conducting for the past 20 years. He clearly describes, and then shows, how different kinds of substances and experiences affect the brain. You get to directly see the activity patterns of an alcoholic, heroin user, or head injured individual. He then explains how we can improve our brains by following some simple rules--and you see how some people actually change their brains. As a psychologist, I have been following the science on brain and behavior for the past 10 years. This is the best presentation I have seen on the brain. It vividly shows us how we directly impact our brains and then how our brains impact us. I think adolescents who see this will be more careful about the risks they take or the substances they put in their bodies. It is relevant to elderly individuals who are seeking to maintain their cognitive abilities as long as possible. Everyone should see this. You will want to be a lot nicer to your brain once you understand how your brain can change as a result of how you treat it--and how that can change your life. It is a must see.
