Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

This album, essentially, plays like a recording of the time Money Mark was left in charge of the multicultural hour at the easy-listening station--it is music that reassuringly pats the listener on the head with one hand, while nonchalantly tickling his ribs with the fingertips of the other. An enchanting collection of songs, Change Is Coming walks a fine musical line between genres and influences. It does so splendidly, reinforcing the notion that this is yet another departure for a musician who thrives on deviance. The bass lines do not overtly drive the songs along; rather, they deepen the smooth texture, adding an aura of undulation to each tune. The taciturn melodies, meanwhile, jump all around the instrumental realm of sound, while maintaining a continuity of pace and feel. This is remarkable, considering that the wordless song lines vacillate between organ and xylophone sounds, scratchy guitar and scratchier keyboard sounds. Each is infused with clean aural elasticity, and is simultaneously soothing. --Mark Huntsman

5.0 out of 5 stars change is coming, September 29, 2001

this is my favorite MM album to date. it covers just about all ground while maintaining a mostly latin jazz/funk sound throughout the album. its a pleasure to listen to all the way through. its strange how the title of the album actually projects whats going on in the world right now as well. the last track on this album rain(nyc) unconsciously fits the troubling times of late and is my favorite track on the album. that song alone is worth the money. listen to it, absorb it, have fun with it, enjoy it. peace

Mark has lost his mind. And it's to our benefit! Wow, his best yet. No pop songs this time just wacky funky and ultimately great great tunes. Forget the Beasty Boys give us more Money Mark!

5.0 out of 5 stars The new old school, November 11, 2004
This review is from: Change Is Coming (Audio CD)
I first became interested in Money Mark after discovering he did the original music for the reality show family bonds.I knew him from the beastie boys playing that old school "car wash" funk.

I loved the album being a Funkster and composer myself. Each track has a different surprise.I must admit I did not care for his earlier solo album but I hope to hear more of this stuff in the future.Great for a party.
