5.0 out of 5 stars Changing but still the same
Sunscreem's original hybrid of hard core techno beats with plenty of live guitars in the mix with a lot of soaring vocals courtesy Lucia Holm is forever inprinted in my mind - CHANGE OR DIE - although not as bold and fierce still manages to capture the Sunscreem energy - the epic force of Exodus makes it a true rave anthem - the lush layers of When and Looking At You...

If you like Sunscreem, you'll be interested in this album. The guitars are not as prominent this time, not that this makes for a bad album.

Many songs make for good club filler. "Looking At You" is surely the hit on this album. "Secrets" sounds a little too desperate to become a hit. Lord knows what they were aiming for with "Cheng Cheng". There are a few...

Keep on screeming!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, October 16, 1999

This cd is now my favorite. It displaces Sunscreem's first album O3 for that spot. Songs like when, looking at you, and white skies are just so invogorating. If your looking for something to dance to that is more original than what is being played on the radio buy this CD. You won't regret it. Every song on the album is good! I don't know why Sunscreem never achieved a higher level of success here in the states but this CD proves they deserve it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sunscreem - A Clear Musical Genius, June 9, 2000

Sunscreem has got to be one of the best kept secrets in musical history. Their music transcends Dance, Trance, and Ambiance into a new relm of high energy music...I like to refer it to Power Music! Each of their albumns holds more energy than every nuclear facility in the world combined! Their mix of synth., rythmn, words (a much desired rarity in futuristic music!), and beat gives the listener a sense of power and immortality! Their music evokes the imagination and sends one into a daydream state!

Best songs: EVERY SINGLE ONE!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic!, August 29, 2000

Sunscreem is a constantly changing group, and this album is no exception. While a little less industrial-sounding than O3, it still has that tehcno-alt.rock-pop feel to it. The tracks range from the darkly clubby 'Exodus' and the summery 'When' to the full-blown pop of 'Secrets' and the acid feel of 'Syclick'. Their mix of live guitars and drums along with computer-controlled analog synths and techno drum loops is unmistakable. Watch out soon for their next album, 'Out Of The Woods'.

5.0 out of 5 stars FINALLY!!!!, August 8, 1999

Sunscreems second album has hit the US shores....Its a tour de force of technopop that has been delayed due to the total mismanagment of two record companies...Every track on this album is even more amazing than the last...If your into groups like new order and PSB, I highly suggest picking this album up...It'll blow you away!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! Beautifully blended dance/pop with creative ideas., August 6, 1999

If you liked O3, you should love this one too! I actually like it more! Although it is still classic Sunscreem, it is a fundamentally original CD. Change or Die is more dance music than pop, but not the standard unimaginative, unchanging techno beats you always hear. The samples and beats are unique and creative but smooth. There are 2 actual "songs": Looking at You and White Skies, and they are perfect. The masterpiece is Cheng Cheng, which includes samples of an Indonesian gamelan (gong) orchestra. It is the coolest thing I have ever heard!

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent, if Aimless, July 13, 2008
This review is from: Change Or Die (Audio CD)
If you like Sunscreem, you'll be interested in this album. The guitars are not as prominent this time, not that this makes for a bad album.

Many songs make for good club filler. "Looking At You" is surely the hit on this album. "Secrets" sounds a little too desperate to become a hit. Lord knows what they were aiming for with "Cheng Cheng". There are a few instrumental songs that seem to float in and out and sound too much like each other. As usual for Sunscreem, any song with lyrics throw together neat phrases like "prison is only a state of mind" but in the end they don't really say much. By the time the ending song fades away suddenly, you'll wonder what just happened.

(Lucinda Holms has such a great voice, so who is this guy that talk/raps in some of these songs? I don't listen to Sunscreem to hear this idiot.)

I was hoping for more. O3 was a great start, if hit or miss. If they got more focused, they could make an album of songs as good as "Love U More". There are certainly a few on here ("White Skies" comes to mind), but I was a bit disappointed.

Lousy, wandering lyrics with a rousing chorus. That's Sunscreen. But if you just feel like dancing, what more do you need?
