This review is from: Change in the Neon Light (Audio CD)
This album is an evolution from their first EP. I would tell you it's better, but that would be a lie. BOTH records are unbelievable and solid in their own way. "Change in the Neon Light" has pumped up the dance appeal from their last effort "Into A New Mausoleum". It's good to know that Veil Veil Vanish are of the mindset to show the world what it takes to create a work of ART and not just another album.
There are very few bands that I can handle listening to again and again. VVV is one of them. The last album that I found to be seamless all the way through was "Drowned in a Sea of Sound" by The Daysleepers.
This review could seem a bit too positive and cause any of you reading it to be skeptical. I am a Dream Pop and Post Punk junkie, so maybe it is. The point I can not stress enough here, is that VVV is not trying to be anyone else. Post-Punk, Dream Pop, and Shoegaze are always threatened by the bands these genres were coined for. There are a lot of bands trying to sound like the Cure, Joy Division, My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins, Slowdive, and so on. The trick seems to be not to just take reference from the greats, but to actually be solid musicians with an amount of pure creativity.
The only downside to "Change in the Neon Light" is the length. 9 songs is such a tease when the music is so good. I guess I'll just have to wait for my next fix.

5.0 out of 5 stars buy it!, May 16, 2011
Interpol is to Joy Division as Veil Veil Vanish is to the Cure. Not a copy, but a descendent. Enjoy!
