Strong Studio Performance,
By A Customer
This review is from: Change of Pace (Audio CD)
It's truly amazing that a player like Gogo is not a major star! His playing is intense, technical and imaginative, while never becoming boring. His "Dine Under The Stars" Album features several of these cuts "LIVE". What a great guitarist with a super tight band!

Great rock/blues,
By A Customer
This review is from: Change of Pace (Audio CD)
"Change of Pace" is a great rock/blues album by David Gogo, known as one of Canada's finest blues guitar players. The CD, produced by Barney Bentall and Colin Nairne, was recorded in British Columbia at Mushroom and Crosstown Studios and mixed at The Factory. The rocking tone of the CD is established early with "Sad and Lonely", a Gogo composition, followed by the blues anthem "(It's All Over Now) Baby Blue", written by Bob Dylan. Along the way the audience is pampered with eleven super rocking blues tunes that include: "Change of Pace", "Mr. Slow", "Face in the Mirror" and "Butterfly Tattoo". Eight of the tunes were penned by Gogo.

CD never arrived - seller refused to send another and Amazon offered no help in getting me one....but I love Gogo's music - so I'm guessing it's a 5!

Blistering Guitar but Underwhelming Vocals & Tunes,
By
This review is from: Change of Pace (Audio CD)
As the other reviewers have mentioned, Gogo is a monster guitar player and if this were just an instrumental album it might rate five stars. However, Gogo handles lead vocals as well and his singing doesn't compare to his playing. He's not a bad singer, just very monochromatic. Likewise, the songwriting is nothing special; very few of the tunes are particularly memorable although many of the licks are. So, five stars for the fret work, three stars for vocals and songwriting.
