5.0 out of 5 stars Another great one from Richie...maybe his best yet., July 4, 2005
This review is from: Change (Audio CD)
Richie doesn't need Poison or Mr. Big(who I very much like). He is great solo. This is probably one of his finest cd's. Alot of people don't agree, but this is my favorite right after "Slow". I like that he's not afraid to put a few different songs at the end. I enjoy them. He could of left them off or called them bonus tracks, but if your a fan, you want to hear it all.

4.0 out of 5 stars www.RockReport.be Album Review, September 15, 2004

This former axeman of Poison and Mr. Big has released a new solo album through his Japanese record company. Did his former album "Slow" (2001) sound very funky in places, this brand-new "Change" has been blessed with an important change, because Richie sounds rockier again on this one. OK, he still likes to sound soulful and once in a while funky (I have to say that this fits his voice very well), but overall the rock influences are back. That he still can be compared with someone as big as Lenny Kravitz stands like a rock, but I can't say that this sucks! Only the opener and the two last instrumentals could have been left out. These songs are something of a weird mixture between modern rock & thrash funk or even jazzy! Next time , Richie should leave these kind of escapades out, because this could only improve the overall quality of his album(s) and will make his followers more consistent. The rest of the tracklist is more than OK and what I really love is this man's voice. In some situations he almost sounds like Eric Martin! Just listen to his own acoustic version of the former Mr. Big track "Shine" and you will shiver and agree. (Taken From www.RockReport.be)

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like Slow, you'll like that one., June 30, 2003

Another good release of this guitar master and great composer, I've been following the Kotzen's career for the last 4 years and I enjoyed every release of him. This is a very strong effort, with nylon guitars, crunch guitars, soul and pop inspired and some rock on it, not talking of the be-bop jazz track, "Unity" that's truly amazing. It starts with a rock tune, "Forever One", then it quickly passes to a pop inspired, "Get A Life", following to a nylon tune, "Change" the track-title. It quickly turns again to soul and pop inspired tunes. "High" is one of my favorites, and "Am I Dreamin" is truly amazing!! "Shine" is an acoustic version from the original Mr. Big song from "Actual Size", the band's last work. The fusion of rock, funk and rap in "Fast Money Fast Cars" is not like most of the tunes that we usually hear on midia mainstream. IT REALLY WORKS!! It also could be a soundtrack of some kind of movie like "The Fast and The Furious" for example, it's amazing! Then turns to jazz be-bop with "Unity" and ends up with an instrumental one, "Out Take". If you like music and like Kotzen, you'll gonna like Change. But if you only like old Kotzen releases like Fever Dream, Electric Joy, or guitar virtuosos and hard rock, you'll probably hate this one. But get it anyway, man, it's music of greatest quality!!! I can't stop hear it!
