Change for the World,
By Nunya Biznet (Love Allah) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Change (Audio CD)
While Self Scientific - MC Chace Infinite and DJ/Producer DJ Khalil - may be known for their work on the "underground" and for vinyl 12"s like "The Return" and "Love Allah," it's obvious that since the release of their debut album "The Self Science" they've experienced a lot of growth and development.
Change finds Chace Infinite grappling the age-old God vs. Man problem on the track "Free Will," but many of his fans may be more surprised at his performance on "2 Step," a song for and about beautiful women who aren't afraid to let go of their inhibitions on the dance floor. But the breakout track on Change has to be "King Kong" featuring Bun B of UGK (Free Pimp C!). As soon as this electrifying track drops from the speakers, you know it's going to be double-edged banger. And with Bun B putting King Kong on his recent solo album "Trill," it's only a matter of short time for the name Self Scientific to be one of the household variety. Hands down, one of the greatest Hip Hop albums of the decade.

The gods are back in the building....,
By Goldeelocks (Negril, JA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Change (Audio CD)
Unreal....they have to be one of the most underrated crews. It's refreshing that the gods have not sold out to commercial success. This is real hip-hop.
Once again, Chace delivers his fluid lyrical delivery--of course the god brings the math. Chace is poet, a teacher, an educator. The production....Khalil..."so good, you'll slap your mama." The beats are on a mothership level--not of this earth, almost futuristic sounding. My only complaint, if you want to call it that, is some of the choruses are a little annoying. Overrall, I haven't heard anything this good in a while. These gods have grown. They have their own style and delivery. It's like when you first heard Poor Rigteous Teachers...there has been a handoff and these gods have the baton now. Knowledge Knowledge.

After the Self titled album from Self Scientific, it left me craving more. After playing that album over and over, I picked up Change. And well, I love it. I love the west coast underground Hip Hop scene, and wish it was more recognized than these other so-called "rappers". Now with satellite radio, the underground gets out to more people. KEEP HIP HOP ALIVE...
