Gary Smalley has written one of the most amazing books I have ever read. Reading his story about how we walked away from the rewarder and worried about the rewards shows how we can all get caught up into worrying about worldy stuff. Gary takes us back to the basics, back to the bible and the word of truth. This book has changed my life, and I know it will change yours.

I have always found good things in Dr Smalley's books...this one had some real practical suggestions that fit many different problems. His candor about his own life struggles and experience's make you feel like he's in this struggle with you and isn't talking down to you. He "has and is" struggling with some of the same problems we all have. I have wondered why I struggle to gain a closer relationship with God. Opening up my heart to other's is the key to opening my heart up to God.

There are many books on the market telling us that all growth comes from changed thinking but few give helpful instruction on how. They add to our pressure to change pointing in the right direction but build no bridges to the other side. Gary tells us how and gives the material with which one can construct. He tells how long to expect it to take (faster than you might think). Anyone can do this, even children ... as you read the bell of truth rings and something inside says "this is right".

This is the most amazing book, but you have to do what he says to see results. If you aren't serious about changing your life, don't bother ordering. If you REALLY want a life of true freedom...order now.

A great book for those who truly want their lives to change, whether single or married. Gary is very forthright about the beliefs hidden in our hearts that control our lives -sometimes they're so hidden we haven't realised they are there! I was surprised by how certain beliefs were affecting how I lived. What I appreciated about this book was how Gary wasn't just giving the advice, but was also brutally honest about the beliefs that had been in his heart for 60 years, & how they had affected him & his family. How he overcame them is what this book is all about, & he shares it in this book because he wants us to have the same freedom he has found by replacing the beliefs we have hidden with the best beliefs that have been given to us by our Creator - yes, it does mean lots of memory verses from the Bible, but believe me, it's worth it! Gary does suggest various interesting ways to help you with memorising...I've found typing the verses out on different coloured bits of paper, & having them stuck around my room helps me. The reward...a changed heart, & a changed life!

This book has great truth, though it was hard to read and discover all the areas of my life that sin still had a hold on, it was a true blessing to grow closer to God.

This book is definately life changing if you are willing to do the work. The world would be a better place is everyone could apply these biblical principals to their life. Please read this book, it is a great summary of many good books I have read all in one.

Dr. Smalley's book has helped me really get my spiritual world, and therefore my life, in order. I had been wavering between living God's beleifs and what the world also says to believe so my life was very up and down before reading this book. I have used some of the Bible versus that Dr. Smalley gave in the book to live my life prior to reading the book but I really didn't think about them every day. This book has shown me how important it is to really making God's Word my BELIEFs not just occassional reminders when I started getting off track. I have really seen how important it is to show my children that I am living according to God's Word and not according to the temporal earthy ideas about how life should be lived. I really appreciated the personal questionaires/tests at the back of the book to help me see how much I was trying to live according to two masters. Thanks to Dr. Smalley for being open and honest about his past struggles with his thought life and his failed attempts to control his life instead of letting God be the driver. I enjoyed the use of humor and how Dr. Smalley gives us a look at his relationship will all his family members (wife, children and grandchildren). Thanks Dr. Smalley for helping me see the Truth of God's Words and putting them on my heart.

Gary Smalley has written a wonderful, gentle and incredibly insightful book on our thought life. He demonstrates how seemingly harmless comments, can create a thought life that gets us out of balance. He addresses self-centeredness, materialism and lusts of the senses (hedonism). Gary explains how our culture and societal beliefs have made certain sins, socially acceptable, desirable and even "normal." More importantly, he shows how to overcome them. This books if a must read for anyone who has a thought life -- that is right, for everyone. I believe this book would be especially helpful for those that struggle with pornography.

You cant' miss this book! This is Gary Smalley's masterpiece. Every believer should read this book and implement its teachings. Adding the Word of God to your heart is like walking with a bullet-proof vest!
