Book Description

December 27, 1999
From the remarkable woman whose message has inspired hundreds of thousands of people--a simple, four-step plan to a new, improved life.

Well known in the Christian community for her practical philosophies and dynamic personality, Becky Tirabassi is a phenomenally successful speaker and author who has sold more than 750,000 books. Her "Change Your Life" radio spots air twice a day on more than 150 stations across the country. Now she presents a commonsense guide to change that shows all of us how to radically transform our lives.

Whether struggling with an addiction, trying to break a bad habit, or searching for spiritual fulfillment, we all yearn for a way to change our lives for the better. Change Your Life is based on the premise that long-lasting change begins with awareness, is empowered by admission, can be successfully achieved through a practical action plan, and is sustained by accountability. Becky describes the four simple tasks that we must focus on in order to facilitate dramatic change in our lives: eat right and exercise, plan and persevere, give and forgive, and talk to and listen to God. Becky Tirabassi's unique blend of spirituality and self-help has inspired hundreds of thousands of people to live more satisfying, fulfilling lives--and by following the steps outlined in Change Your Life, we can all experience the same success.

Amazon.com Review

Obtaining a balanced life is an aspiration that often leaves one feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. For Becky Tirabassi, the desire to transform herself from an overworked, selfish mother into a fit, focused woman led to concrete change. Based on biblical principals, Change Your Life is the "how to" of life change, written by a once-alcoholic party girl who now makes her living as a motivational speaker and author. "Long-lasting change begins with awareness and admission and can be achieved and sustained through accountability," she writes, after promising to motivate each reader to achieve "desired changes through a practical action plan." This action-plan is a four-component process focusing on the physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental aspects of life. In each section Tirabassi asks poignant questions that aim at drawing out weak or imbalanced areas. She manages to prove that each facet is interrelated and actually can be balanced if we would take responsibility for our failures and make a concerted, daily effort.

Tirabassi's own testimony reveals a dramatic life change when she became a Christian, followed by reevaluating her out-of-control life years later. Now she uses a journal to turn balancing her life into a daily event. She confirms that although each and every person has different struggles and strives for different dreams, the biblical principals for balancing one's life remain the same. Those seeking transformation will notice that she refrains from using the biblical language for such things as sin (failures) and forgiveness (admission), hoping to attract those who have misconceptions about the Bible. While the Christian will most likely find the disciplines contained here refreshing and encouraging, the person who is groping to find God will hopefully hear and respond to the message that ultimately saves lives eternally--that of the Gospel. Change Your Life is the ultimate in spiritual self-help. --Jill Heatherly

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fabulous Book! June 14, 2001
Format:Paperback
This is a book for everyone: It's for the person looking to lose a few pounds, the questioning twenty something, the disillusioned forty something, the married with children, the Christian dealing with sin, the alcoholic... anyone who has not attained perfection. As an author of a behavior management program, who has read volumes of self-help material, I found this book to be the most inspiring, motivating book I've read in years. Although I've used similar techniques for myself, and to help parents improve child behavior, this book is a perfectly balanced culmination of techniques for adults who want change. After reading Becky Tirabassi's book, I intend to start a "change your life" group myself. My sixteen year old daughter wants to join us. We all want to change some part of our life. This is only possible as we allow the groundwork to begin. I encourage everyone to buy this book. It will change your life!

5.0 out of 5 stars This Is It! June 7, 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This is just the book that we are all looking for... the book that will give you practical steps to change, but at the same time inspire you. This book is easy to read, jam packed full of great stories that everyone can relate to. But the best part is you will walk away with the tools you need to give it a go. It challenges you to balance your life: physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally. I liked the sample journal in the back and also the Group Leaders Guide that is included. My recommendation is... just read it, it WILL help you to change your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Real Thing June 14, 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
In a world full of so-called self-help experts, Becky Tirabassi emerges as a voice of authenticity and authority. Her strength comes from the way she uses profound experiences from her own life to make dramatic points to which we can all relate. This book doesn't focus solely on turning inward for life's elusive answers. Instead, she encourages us to find hope, healing and inspiration by connecting and mending relationships with God and the people in our lives. One of the most powerful points she makes is how all four areas of life (physical, emotional, spiritual and mental) are connected to each other and that the process of changing our lives has to begin with a balanced approach. Once a person incorporates a focused action plan into their day, they are much more equipped to fulfill dreams and accomplish personal and professional goals. I found the journal pages especially helpful in giving me the tools to start putting her principals into action. Tirabassi pulls it all together in a way that makes sense and gives the reader a purposeful direction. Definitely worth the read.

1.0 out of 5 stars Heaven on Earth ?? February 8, 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Becky Tirabassi is a wonderful writer and Christian. That said, the formula approach to Christianity in this book, I found, was very shallow. She may have overcome much in her life, but the implication in this book is to take Bible promises which are only intended for Heaven and apply them to here and now. We live in a fallen world and this book implies that God is responsible for solving all our problems here and now. Holding God to promises only intended for Heaven leads to frustration and anger at God when he seemingly does not come through. Be careful of this book.
