5.0 out of 5 stars Fun but VERY important
From ABC 20/20 to CNN and most medical publications we know that Americans are sleep deprived. That as women we are doing more and running on less fuel. SARK is an author whose BOOKS, (notice I said bookS) should be required reading for all women and especially those of us past age 40.

SARK teaches in such a wonderful way about why, how and where we should take naps...

2.0 out of 5 stars More of the same...
I love SARK, her ideas and creativity, her wonderful books, and the way she can inspire. However, the nap book feels forced and "old". Its the same stuff from Succulent Wild Woman and the Bodacious Book... but re-iterated in a small, hard cover form. Succulent Wild Woman was so fresh and so exciting that the Nap Book definitely feels disappointing...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun but VERY important, March 31, 2001
This review is from: Change Your Life Without Getting Out of Bed: The Ultimate Nap Book (Hardcover)
From ABC 20/20 to CNN and most medical publications we know that Americans are sleep deprived. That as women we are doing more and running on less fuel. SARK is an author whose BOOKS, (notice I said bookS) should be required reading for all women and especially those of us past age 40.

SARK teaches in such a wonderful way about why, how and where we should take naps. That Europeans and Latin American neighbors know or have known for centuries that a nap is a gift we give ourselves if we want to live a happy, healthy and LONG life.

SARK reminds us all that as children as later on as parents of children we know the value of naps is there, but that we simply need to be reminded to take one. I also think this ia a great first SARK book for a friend whom you want to get hooked on SARK as well as give valuable and in my opinion life saving help to. Why life saving?

Because as I noted at the beginning of my review more people are being killed while falling asleep at the wheel while driving, and more women and men are suffering stress and other health issues that SARK and many medical experts say could easily be relieved with a daily NAP.

4.0 out of 5 stars Whimsical and honest, April 26, 2000
This review is from: Change Your Life Without Getting Out of Bed: The Ultimate Nap Book (Hardcover)
This playful, silly, all-too-honest book made my day. It's full of reasons to nap, excuses to nap, ways to make naptime more playful, and more. When I was done reading it, I went and took a nap (guilt-free, of course!)

5.0 out of 5 stars I Laughed so hard I fell asleep, February 16, 2000
This review is from: Change Your Life Without Getting Out of Bed: The Ultimate Nap Book (Hardcover)
This book was SO funny! I remember as a kid pressing my cheek hard against the bedcovers during naptime so my mom would see the indentations and know I had slept...even though I hadn't. What a fool I was then not appreciating the value of a nap. This book raises the nap to a new level and challenges those who look at nap lovers like myself with disdain to rethink their philosophy (yea...right!). This one stays in the nightstand.

5.0 out of 5 stars SARKS best book..buy it!, April 12, 2003
This review is from: Change Your Life Without Getting Out of Bed: The Ultimate Nap Book (Hardcover)
Spend any time in Europe or Latin countries and you soon discover the value of naps and sleeping as a requirement for a whole and healthy life. Maybe that is why this is my favorite SARK book. I own all her books. I even think this is a book that if you love yourself and your best friend, you will buy copies of it.

She does an excellent job of explaining why naps are important and how naps heal the mind, body and spirit. I personally believe that a nap or rest period should be a must in any home and business. That closing up the store between 2-4 every afternoon and taking a nap would reduce a lot of problems American society has.

Do not let her wonderful watercolour graphics fool you into thinking this is just a fun book. Because the words she shares are so valuable. She shows that the countries who have people who nap, are the most productive. People who nap are sick less which means less job absentees

And she shows as does research that sleep is when we are dreaming and when we get some of the best ideas as well as when we reenergize our whole being. I like the section on pages 51-57 on where to nap etc is good. My favorite place is in a Guatemalan hammock we have which cradles me like a baby and allows me to slightly sway as I nap. I like it so much I recommend it for sleeping at night when restless.

5.0 out of 5 stars great de-stress book, March 10, 2003

Do you know someone is that is overstressed? Want to get them a book to help?

I researched about 20 different stress books from my local library, and I found this one to be the best. Most books are too preachy for de-stress books. They talk about stress and it just stresses you out reading them!

But this book is a pure pleasure to read. It's fun, and it makes you feel good about taking naps. And this is a fun book to share with others. It makes for a nice surprise gift to someone who is going through alot of troubles in their life.

"My life is one long nap, punctuated by brief moments of activity"

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm a big advocate for siestas!, February 13, 2002
By
This review is from: Change Your Life Without Getting Out of Bed: The Ultimate Nap Book (Hardcover)
I really enjoyed this book ... I agree with some of the other reviewers in that it is a little repetitive of earlier books. This did not stop me from enjoying it! I realize that SARK thought that naps were so important that they deserved their own book. I've been trying to convince my office to have "siesta" time daily, but no luck so far. Everytime I pick up one of SARK's books I become re-inspired. Great, although short, little book. Grab the book and settle down for a nap!

4.0 out of 5 stars justification for napping - at last!, August 9, 1999
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Change Your Life Without Getting Out of Bed: The Ultimate Nap Book (Hardcover)
I read this book in one day and took a nap in between. I read parts out loud to my husband who always asks me why am I so tired? It's not that I'm tired - I'm just renewing myself! I love how I feel when I wake up from a nap. Thank you SARK for showing me I am not alone in my nap-seeking ways.

I am the Nap Queen! I'm a children's writer and , thanks to SARK, I've written nearly all of my stuff sitting up in bed and wearing my jammies!

This is a great book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great book that gives us permission to take a nap., May 11, 1999

I felt this book was playful in SARK's usual manner. It was an easy read with some fun ideas that makes a great gift to those nap deprived people we all know. I enjoyed the book, and I bought one for a friend as well. I actually fell asleep for a nap while reading this book on a Saturday afternoon.
