Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

After years of inner conflict and anger, psychiatrist Jampolsky underwent a transformation that he chronicled in Out of Darkness into the Light ( LJ 4/15/89). The result of his new outlook on life was his founding of the Center for Attitudinal Healing in 1975. Since then, he has been spreading the word in numerous books and audiocassettes. Like endless sequels, each one is a slight variation on the theme of transforming fear, blame, and guilt into love and peace. As do the others, Change Your Mind, Change Your Life gives personal testimonies and provides lessons to achieve the desired results. Each chapter concludes with "affirmations," short self-help prayers to steer the convert in the right direction. Libraries with other Jampolsky books can skip this sequel; those having a demand for the spiritual dimensions of psychotherapy may want a copy of the book or the simultaneously released audiocassette (Bantam Audio,

From the Publisher

"Most of us want to change the world, but only a few of us are willing to change our own minds!" Yet there is a shift taking place in the world, where more and more people are recognizing that it is our own thoughts and attitudes that determine how we look at the world and, ultimately, what we see. This book is for people of all ages, religions, and cultures who have a desire and a willingness to change the thoughts in their minds. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heal All Your Relationships, December 30, 2002
While most of us are well aware that "love is the answer," we frequently encounter difficulty when we attempt to live our lives according to that seemingly lofty principle. We're challenged the moment someone "pushes our buttons" and leaves us feeling righteous anger for their thoughtless words and actions. The beauty behind CHANGE YOUR MIND, CHANGE YOUR LIFE is that it provides us with effective tools for bringing real feelings of love into all of our most challenging real-life situations, such as: parenting, competitive sports, business transactions, and even legal disputes and divorce.

Authors Jampolsky and Cirincione are pioneers in the field of attitudinal healing, and have assisted people overcome their inner conflicts while facing a wide variety of debilitating physical, emotional, and mental challenges. This wealth of real-life experience helps CHANGE YOUR MIND, CHANGE YOUR LIFE, present its revolutionary ideas in crystal-clear language with down-to-Earth suggestions. Rather than see our relationships with others as sources of most of the problems in our life, we can learn to appreciate how each and every relationship is a golden opportunity to experience love.

It is possible to heal all your relationships by releasing preconceived notions about others along with all grievances. Imagine for a moment what your life will be like when you know how to be peaceful and loving inside, regardless of what is happening all around you. Imagine that you can speak your truth in every moment, while always maintaining peace of mind as your primary goal. Now imagine how the whole world will be when lots of people begin doing this -- and you'll realize why this book is so important right now!

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book on the Power of Forgiveness, February 28, 2004
This is an enjoyable book based on A Course In Miracles, that offers good advice with respect to using forgiveness as a path to inner peace. Some of the personal stories in the book are quite touching and help to add illustrative meat to the theoretical teachings about the power of a person's attitude to change life for the better. I thought the chapters on body image and aging were excellent. My only complaint is that the section on business ethics is somewhat dated. The book trumpets the success of the Levi Strauss Company as an example of attitudinal healing in practice. Sadly enough, Levi's has chosen to close down all of its plants in America and ship the jobs overseas; a change of mind that changed a lot of lives in bad ways.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth reading, July 14, 2009
I am a big fan of the author of this book Gerald G. Jampolsky and ACIM. However, I feel that this book written with his new life partner Diane Cirincione was too much filler and not enough substance. His earlier and what I consider classic work of his own "coming of age" Out Of Darkness into the light- A journey of inner healing is a much better read IMHO. I felt after reading this book that it was "called in" and didn't seem to offer much new except to promote his own Center and stories of others who have benefitted from their work. I would recommend you save your money and buy one of his other books instead- especially Out of Darkness.
