5.0 out of 5 stars Rascal Flatts' change for the better April 4, 2012
By Joker
Format:Audio CD
I've been a fan of Rascal Flatts for years, so I always make an effort to get their albums as soon as they're released. Rascal Flatts is my favorite band; I love all of their music, but I admit that some songs are better than others, as are some albums. If I were rating this based on my own liking, I'd give all their albums 5 stars, every time. However, I'm going to give an objective overview of their new album in hopes that it will help some people decide whether they want to give this album a listen.

1. "Changed" - The album starts out with a strong ballad, a la Rascal Flatts style. After a few seconds, fans of the boys' other albums will immediately recognize the emotional, heart-felt style of this ballad. Furthermore, the lyrics start out with a religious overtone, something that is usually only hinted at. I'm not religious, myself, but those who are will connect even more with this song. Even so, the song is about changing for the better, which is something that anyone can identify with. Overall a strong song and a great addition to RF's repertoire. 9/10

2. "Banjo" - The lead single off the album plays a lot like "Me and My Gang" mixed with songs like "Break Away" that deal with getting away from a busy lifestyle and seeking comfort in a quiet, peaceful place. The music itself, as you may have guessed, features quite a bit of the banjo, giving the song a true country feel without getting too carried away. Just a fun song, great for radio and road trips. 8.5/10

3. "Hot in Here" - Here we get a taste of Gary's vocal dynamics a bit more than "Changed" and "Banjo." This is a good example of Rascal Flatts' lyrical style; all about passionate love and being overwhelmed by a significant other.

"Changed" is an excellent new album from Rascal Flatts. My favorite track is "Banjo". This song is a tribute to an instrument that brings me such pleasure. I don't play the banjo, but I love listening to it. This song is so upbeat. I love the images of driving in a truck amd of crickets and frogs. This is a great country song. "Hot In Here" is another fun song about how a beautiful woman can be a delightful distraction for a man. "Great Big Love" is another upbeat tune that celebrates the love that two people share. This is not a sappy love song. This song rocks with electric guitar playing. Gary LeVox captures the sentiment of the loneliness on the song "A Little Home". He sings about a soldier feels being separated from loved ones. He also captures how a college student feels about living away from home. The mandolin playing on this track gives this song a lovely tone. The title track is a beautiful song about the guys in the band have been changed for the better. This is a good song about personal transformation and forgiveness. This song is very touching. "Sunrise" is a song about how a special someone can change a person's outlook on life after a bad relationship. This song has such a positive message. I love this song a lot. "Come Wake Me Up" is the opposite of the song "Sunrise". It is a song about the lingering feelings a person carries because of a bad relationship. I love the difference in tone of these two songs. "Let It Hurt" is a song about how going through a painful experience can help a person grow. I like the lyrics of this song. It contains wise advice I can relate to. "Lovin Me" is a happy song about all the little things a person does that uplifts another person. All of the songs on this album are very entertaining to listen to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album April 3, 2012
By Emgee
Format:Audio CD
I will admit that when "Banjo" was first released, it was far from my favorite song. It has since grown on me. However, knowing Rascal Flatts, I knew that their albums are always worth picking up.

"Changed" is no exception. Filled with great beats, great melodies and great lyrics, the album is a winner from start to finish. There's also no reason not to spring for the Deluxe Edition which features four additional tracks.

Standout Tracks:
"Come Wake Me Up"
"Changed"
"She's Leaving"
"Sunrise"
"Let It Hurt"
"A Little Home"
"Fall Here" (Deluxe Edition Bonus Track)

5.0 out of 5 stars We're in luck - Not much has Changed October 17, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Having sold over 21 million albums and 25 million digital downloads, Rascal Flatts have proven themselves as a musical powerhouse. Being a country band with crossover pop hits, the band is no stranger to making fans of multiple genres, and keeping them with their tight harmonies and hook driven power ballads. Songs like 'God Bless The Broken Road' and 'What Hurts The Most' both showcase the bands talent for intense emotional lyricism and commanding vocal lines. Their 2012 release "Changed" is not a title to take too literal. The band maintains their origins, while branching off into a new direction of polished tracks, guided by stories of love, loss and above all - faith.

If you're anything like me, you were already jumping out of your boots at the mention of an upcoming studio album. I note, "Changed" has given the Flatts fans a reason to jump a little higher. While it is a more country-oriented album, it certainly is not without its pop undertones. With each album, Rascal Flatts have come to cement themselves as a band clearly capable of topping the charts, and after listening to "Changed," I would say it's safe to assume their upward climb hasn't peaked just yet.

The soft and emotional side of the band is showcased in songs such as the title track, in addition to the 2nd single, 'Come Wake Me Up.' The latter captures the all too familiar feelings of a post break up turmoil, causing complete emotional fatigue. Switching gears, the lead single, 'Banjo,' offers a fresh take on the Flatts' country roots. This fun, lively and up-tempo tune tells the story of leaving the city life behind and returning to a recognizable, all country haven; the sound of a banjo feeding the notion one has arrived.
