Conflict, Fate, and Legend,
This review is from: Changeling Swords at Dawn (Changeling: The Lost) (Hardcover)
Along with Dancers in the Dusk (which I'd recommend even more highly), this book is a guide for both Storytellers and players for dealing with several elements related to two of the game's key themes: dream and fate. This volume takes a more conflict-oriented bent, beginning with a chapter on combat, duels in changeling society, and a healthy collection of new Contracts under the heading of "War Magic." The second chapter details means of working Fate into storytelling, and includes hooks and tips for telling various archetypal story lines (Buried Treasure, Lucky Object, Magical Stranger, Incest Twist, and others). It also features Cruel Twists of Fate and Common Threads to help bring the faerie tale element to the fore and give changeling some unique flavor in WoD. Chapter 3 details legendary tokens and the stories surrounding them (think Arthur & the Grail or the ring in LotR). The book has plenty of crunch: Contracts, Merits, Tokens, 4 Entitlements, and the new Dawn Court (and it's Contracts of Potential). Definitely worth Amazon's reasonable price for Changeling fans.
