Not just for women, nor just for gay women, just plain great,

A roommate's girlfriend left the album in our apartment in 1980; listened once, liked it, six years later I was sleepless at night with flu and ear infection, listening to womens' radio show in Portland, Or, on Walkman, heard "The Song of The Soul" and swear that my fever broke and ear healed within the hour. I don't compare Cris Williamson to other folkies or "womens' musicians;" rather to Johannes Brahms, Felix and Fanny Mendelsohn, and late-period Beethoven short works. This is what they call "absolute music," beyond categorization. There are not enough stars in this rating system for it.

Incredible!,

A friend of mine recommended Cris Williamson and played Waterfall for me. I remembered the song vaguely from college and when I picked up the album I was hooked. But my true appreciation for this album was at a major turning point in my life while waiting for surgery in Vibraham hospital in Bangkok Thailand. I listened to to the songs that had become, by that time, old friends, but they took on new meaning. Song of the Soul just perfectly expressed so much about the world. It led me to such acceptance of myself and forgiveness for others. In the middle of Dream Child the nurses arrived to take me for my SRS. Everything turned out wonderfully, but that morning changed me so much in how I look at the world. I still can't listen to the album without the same profound thoughts coming to my mind. I'm deeply indebted.

Cris is the "gift" to music. She shares her heart and soul in vocal stylings that are easy on the ears, touching to the heart, and life affirming. If you have no other woman's albums...start here...you will be ordering all of her albums, none of which deviate from the superb quiality of this album. Cris is undoubtedly the finest musician never palyed on "pop" radio...if they only knew what they are missing!

This is a great CD when you need a lift. "Waterfall" insires you to go on during bad times. "Song of the Soul" is a joyous celebration of life. "Hurts like the Devil", "Wild Things", and "Shooting Star" speak of love lost and found. You need to experience this album to appreciate the depth of emotion it has to offer

I was introduced to Chris Williamson's music/women's music appoximately 12 years ago at a retreat and fell in love with it almost instantly. I had never heard any music classified as "women's" prior to that. Chris sings with such feeling...she is truly an inspiration. I have owned the cassette for approximately 12 years and like it so much I plan to purchase a CD of it. I can honestly say I really like all, but one of the songs. "Wildthings" is out of this world! My nieces and nephews like it too. They sing along...even the nephew that acts like Mr. Cool! When the tape is over, my nieces ask me to play it again.

Good music and lyrics all the way,

I had this album in the 80's given to me by a male friend, my daughters loved it and we learnt the words to the songs, recently we began to yearn to hear it again and have been persuing it. The songs are classic, some will be inspired by their feminist nature but all should be impressed by the lyrics and the emotion in the music.

i am so thankful that a friend introduced me to the music of cris williamson. she has a subtle honesty that so few artists are capable of expressing. each time i listen to this album, i hear something new. she is an artist that transends genre. she is an artist that defies definition.

A Most Wonderful Experience,

I first heard this music in 1981 and I go back to it every few years because it is some of the most uplifting modern music I have ever heard. Supposedly this is womans music, and I gather it is a milestone in that way, but that is why I find that kind of labeling so limiting. This music is for anyone who has lived, loved and lost and needs a reminder of how wonderful life and loving really are.

when I first heard this album in 1977, I couldn't stop playing it, and soon my dorm room was full of other listeners, who grew to be huge Cris Williamson fans. Still today C and the C remains my favorite album of all time. Cris' voice is so beautiful, and the poetry on this album is some of her finest. Contemporary singers could learn so much from this recording......the simplicity and the integrity, and the musicianship.I highly recommend Changer and the Changed.

Cris Williamson has a soulful voice that rings through you. This album has something for everyone. It has wonderfully playful songs like, "Hurts Like the Devil" to more serious, poetic songs like "Waterfall". It's a wonderful album.
