4.0 out of 5 stars
for fans of old something corporate, old tbs and blink 182, July 12, 2008
ive had this cd for a while and i just recently started really giving it a good listen and i'm glad i did.
the two guitarist/singers collin and shaun share the mic
collin has a nasly higher voice and shaun has a airy raspy voice
you can't really tell theres two singers till you listen enough or watch some live/acoustic vids or see them live and really start to tell them apart, both of their voices blend very well, and there guitar and piano styles make the band very enjoyable, the drummer is also very creative.
the stand out tracks would have to be: everything, perfect company, bank and lions
1. south: starts with a little drum solo remenisant of old blink 182 then goes into a good piano riff like soco, good opening song to show you whats to come. 5/5
2. everything: starts out with a rad guitar riff so you just know right away the songs gonna rock, goes into a rad electric style verse with a nice bass hit or two and some synth and some nice soft vocals from shaun, this song is probably the catchiest song on the cd and will be stuck in your head for days. 5/5
3. changes: stars with a very cool effect on the drums which leads very well into the song, the verses on this song are a little strange and amatuerish but they are only 18-19 and probbaly wrote most of this when they were even younger, but the blink 182 type chorus makes this song worth it 4.5/5
4. perfect company: this song has a very cool acoustic/piano vibe to it which just makes you happy, this is a great song to listen to with a loved one, has cute lyrics like "i just want to tell you i love you i love you" which is pretty catchy, the bridge on this song is my favorite where shaun with his signature breathiness sings a nice melody 5/5
5. bank: starts off with some delayed piano and gets right to rocking this song will remind you of taking back sunday, this song has a rockin chorus that hits hard 5/5
6. lions: another cool vibe song like perfect company, except this song has more of a electronica vibe to it with the synth vocals, shaun sings the verses on this song and only a few backups in the chorus. 5/5
7. the piano song: this is a pretty good song not there best of there soft side, sounds pretty amatuer but also i know this is one of there older ones, so im hoping the next cd doesnt lack now that they will all be new songs. 4/5
8. tonight lites: this is a really upbeat fun song, more of a pop punk vibe than any of the other songs, with a jumpy poppy chorus that you could bounce around to. 5/5
9. all the weak: its all in the name its one of the weakest tracks, this song sounds a bit like old all american rejects the verses are a bit dragged out kind of slow drawn out singing, the bridge is the best part of the song with cool keyboard strings and then a relient k feel as it progresses. 3/5
10. a different kind of love: starts off with some nice acoustic soft verses sung by shaun then collin sings a pre chorus into the nice catchy chorus that reminds me a bit of soco, the song has a good happy vibe to it, and classical style keys. 5/5
11. believe: another up beat pop punky song like tonight lites just not as catchy also has alot of instumental parts. 3.5/5
12. figure it out: this song reminds me of something taking back sunday would do for an ender, its an ok ender for the cd, nothing to special about the song. 3/5
overall its a great cd to buy
i hope this little review has helped a bit
