I am most proud of my latest book "Addicted to Stress: A Woman's 7-Step Program to Reclaim Joy and Spontaneity in Life." I love doing stress-management workshops for people from all walks of life: cancer survivors, attorneys, the elderly, nuns, teachers, medical personnel, young mothers, children and others. I listen to their stories and get asked the really tough questions. I am passionate about writing - I get ignited by creativity. Looking for a different angle, a fresh approach means everything - the process of being unique. Also, I have an outrageous sense of humor which helps me to step outside the box; no, I have actually broken the box!
To help me get the word out I produce and host a weekly stress-management /fitness radio show, the Turn On Your Inner Light Show in NY on AM1240 WGBB radio 7:00- 7:30 PM Eastern time Tuesdays. By the way the show streams live on the internet. Each week I interview a guest expert, usually a best selling author, give you the latest health tips and conclude with a segment from an elite trainer, Frank Mikulka, who addresses a weekly fitness question asked by the audience.
If all that isn't enough, I create and run an educational website with a free weekly newsletter. You can even listen to over 100 archived radio shows. Check it out: www.turnonyourinnerlight.com
Why am I doing all of this? I'm a second-generation holocaust survivor, who took care of two parents who suffered from Alzheimer's Disease, which makes me determined not to survive, but to really live. I delight in the ordinary and appreciate every little thing. My mission is to get the word out about happiness.
As a result of having confronted the "darkness" to appreciate the "light", I created a bold, new program, a creative merger of fitness and spirituality as a comprehensive response to the question: "Debbie, what is the secret to your constant happiness?" My books take you by the hand guiding you to live with a sense of who you are as you advance in strength and spirit.
After a first career as an English professor, I embraced mind/body fitness and devoted years to studying stress-management. However, my best credential is what my workshop participants have bestowed: "Sunshine Girl."
