A lot of good stuff but very difficult to read because of the writing!,
By Lee Say Keng "KNOWLEDGE ADVENTURER/TECHNOLOGY... (Ho Chi Minh City/Singapore) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Changing Mindsets: The Potential Unconscious (Psychoanalytic crosscurrents) (Hardcover)
I am not surprised at all to note that there isn't any review of this book, despite the fact that it was first published in the late 80's.
I have had this book for quite a long time, ever since I have been fascinated by mindsets, paradigms and belief systems. In my search for better understanding of these subjects, I have amassed a large number of books and articles. This book was among the first few books I have laid my hands on. I have had to read it several times to get what I wanted. Actually, there are a lot of good stuff here but because of the writing, the reading was made very difficult as the intellectual regimen and conceptual intensity were overwhelming for a layman. They almost killed me! You can safely say that the book is packed with plenty of psychoanalytical babble. Nevertheless, I am quite happy I managed to get it read after several attempts. In a nut shell, this book is about how to break through the barriers that prevent us from experiencing the hapiness we seek. In essence, it is about how to restore and exercise our freedom of choice. Although it is written from a therapeutic perspective, and is intended for psycho-therapists, the authors have packed the book with vivid and detailed case illustrations. |
